September 20, 2005: K-1 Interview in London. Visa received shortly thereafter.

AOS

December 30, 2005: I-485 received by USCIS

May 5, 2006: Interview at Phoenix district office. Approval pending FBI background check clearance. AOS finally approved almost two years later: February 14, 2008.

Received 10-year green card February 28, 2008

Jon (da husband) and I are heading to Oregon this weekend for a wedding. It's my first trip to the Pacific Northwest. Yay! Grass! (*snork*) Trees! Moisture!

I did with a SSA noob but it turned ok at the end :thumbs: I went to another office :lol:

I read in the guides that it would be good to wait 2 weeks so they will be on their system. That's what we did and he was on the system. :thumbs:

Well, it's been a couple of years now, but the process had just been streamlined. He did end up having to go to the Social Security Office, but he just had to show them his K-1, and maybe his passport. He got the SSN well before the EAD. Have a look at http://www.ssa.gov/ssnvisa/.
