Communications weak, we have no reconnaissance planes, the Admiral's convoy crews are tired. The enemy has an escort of two heavy and two light cruisers and possibly 14 destroyers with superior power. We have tried close range with a direct hit and seem to have badly damaged one. Counterattack!

Who is in command here?

We will launch a general offensive to regain control of the battlefield and the airfield, and push back the enemy and fight the decisive battle. Our supply lines are over extended and we will establish bridgeheads along the way and give the impression that this enemy is the main target. We are on such a wide front that the enemy will not know where we will strike next.

I groan before I say this.

May I suggest a two pronged assault on both enemy bases, this will throw the enemy into dissaray and will provide significant tactical advantage..
