"Annie" is fine

cos its my name

Welcome to the blue boxes and (L)s heaven Annie!

My name is Xenia ... but you can call me Eau or X :)

Correction, thats Eau, Special Operations Officer, Commander of VJ Intelligence.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Hee hee I once yelled at my hubby for gov. speak.. he was referring to I-485, blah blah blah... I said "you mean paper for greencard right - Don't make it complicated!! I cna't handle the stress boy!!".. lol.. good times..

I know what that feels like.

I worked in a UK government related office, and got a call one day that had me baffled. Because everyone is known by initials, and forms are known by numbers, I got this person who said something like:

"Hi, can I speak to [letter letter] about [number number] and [number number] because [letter letter] over at [letter letter] got [number number] instead of [number number] and [letter letter] of [letter letter number number] needs [letter letter... or was it number number] to verify [number number] before they [number number] the [number number] to [letter letter]."

I was like...

"pardon?"

and this very polite voice at the other end of the phone went...

"you're new, aren't you?"

Said it all, really

At least they are nice enough to call the biometrics the biometrics, right?

And thank you all for the nice welcome :)

Good to know that we can be a part of something fun and friendly while we endure all these immigration hurdles. Makes the journey less lonely, I can tell you

I actually am supposed to be working on the edits for my still-in-progress first novel and this is more fun. And getting a giggle from the fact its not just me that trips over all these abbreviations is reassuring. Makes me feel less clumsy

Yeah it can get quite complicated, if somebody hears anybody going thru this process it sounds like reading chemistry or the periodic table

I-129f for K-1, right?

And then after, the I-485.

Yes AOS, O'really?

Aha, and maybe you need the AP plus the EAD.

And others are going thru K-3's.

Wait until you get past AOS. Then you'll have to do form numbers .. I-751 for removal of conditions, N-400 for naturalization. Hard enough to remember acronyms, how much more form numbers!!

Definately not just you. Sometimes I have to sit and stare at the screen and go down a mental list of what can fit that abbreviation until SOMETHING makes sense.
