That's so strange to think that since Henia who posts here every now and then always says it. She's been a muslim for quite some time. I know many others who have been a muslim for well over 5 + years and they say it a lot. I guess it depends on where you are at spiritually.

henia is another prime example of exactly what i am talking about. unfortunately it typically has nothing to do with spirituality, and everything to do with craving attention. last i checked, this is typically an english language forum. deviations from english are noticed, and in these kinds of examples, the motivations behind them are just too blatantly obvious to ignore. in your posts, you give off all the signals, and say all the right things that denotes you as one of those types. if you are not, i apologise, but the things you write just seem to put out those kinds of clues.

Not cutting down converts but you have to realize the number of women converting simply out of faith in Islam is tiny. Most of them are doing it for the all mighty ####### and a pat on the head by their man. Just count the number of women doing it immediately after meeting a Muslim man. How many of these women knew jack shet about Islam before this man came along?

and I know there are woman out there.. who do NOT research Islam.. have NO clue about the religion and Blindly convert... BUT not every woman is like that..

AND even if they DID meet a man.. and then convert.. then subhanallah.. Maybe that was God's plan.. Some times your heart needs to soften to be open to things..

Isn't that one of the reasons a Muslim Man can marry out side of Islam ??

Also, some of these women who do convert to please their man end up loving the religion. I've met those women, too. I would hope that Muslim men marrying outside of their faith are doing it for other reasons besides converting the woman.

Since when is honesty sad to hear? I respect anyone who isn't afraid to speak their mind. Even if that doesn't come off as kittens and lollypops.

I guess its sad to say that someone who is being derogatory towards others makes your day. Just my opinion. I just never thought you were like that.

i should make the distinction though, that if one is using those phrases amongst others who are all muslim, and know what the bloody hell you're on about when you say them, then it's a little more palatable. but if you're just using them around random people who don't know what you're saying or why, then it just looks pompous and rude.

Not to mention it's appropriate during prayers, but on a board like this, why must a native English speaker, amongst other English speakers, insist on these random arabic phrases? It's not as if these phrases are foreign to the English language. My Irish grandmother said God willing and praise god all the time. In English.

I know of one. The rest were Christian one day, Muslim the next. Now, how on earth do you **suddenly** revert when one day the Pope makes sense to you and the next your hair is covered yet you are struggling with alcohol, halal food shopping, and hijab? How can a religion possibly speak to you if you have to make so many changes for it and it's such a huge struggle?

Derogatory is calling someone out their name or making racial slurs...stuff like that. Calling it as you see it is not derogatory. That is, unless you take personal offense to the statement because you feel down deep the person may be correct. Just a thought. At any rate, if what effortless described is not you then why take offense to it?

Rationalize all you want. You are the one making speeches about saying inshallah more often is making you a better person yet you are wishing a marriage would end. And you can say "derogatory" day and night, but that's not what is going on here. Honesty is honesty. Try to have a conversation about it or don't, but the passive aggressive comments don't do anything to bolster you.
