Jay, I am not sure about your conspiracy theory towards Apple crippling older devices.  Or if it IS true, Android does it too.

 

Instead, I think the newer versions of IOS and AOS simply become too much for the devices, since their processors are a year old (or older).  My Samsung S7 Edge ( I will never buy a curved phone again) is slower now too.  Sometimes, I click on an icon, and it takes 5-7 seconds for the phone to respond.  But when it was new, it was lightning fast.  Putting it in super-duper fast mode helps a little, but not like it used to.  I tend to leave mine in battery saving mode now just to save power.

 

That said, for some of the apps I use at work, they seem to work better on iPhones than Androids.  But it’s not enough to ever make me want to go back.

I will definitely wait and see when it comes out as well. My wife has taken a liking to Iphones lately and wants that X when it comes out, but I will just wait and see before I go out and buy it.

That's what I heard is killing the 8's numbers right now is either everyone is waiting for the new phones or they are just buying the 7's. I don't know why that is but it looks like the 8 will be forgotten here soon.

I imagine part of the delay is also waiting on Samsung to deliver cameras and screens.  Since Samsung now has to produce both items for their own phones as well as iPhones, I am sure production is struggling to keep up.

I just got a Pixel 2 in the mail yesterday. I've had my current phone (Nexus) for I think 5 years now.

 

I need to get a new sim card to fit in but so far I like it. The camera is a huge improvement, and looks better than my wife's iphone camera. Though I typically avoid using a phone camera for anything other than spur of the moment photos.
