Received NOA2, Visa Status is READY on CEAC website, but consulate in Rio has no record?? Help!

Hello,

We received our NOA2 on October 2nd. The email said to wait for notification from the consulate in Rio to schedule our interview and medical exam.

BUT on the CEAC website, it says that our petition is ready and we can schedule our interview:

After waiting two weeks with still no word from the consulate in Rio, I emailed them and they told me they have no record of our petition and to wait until they receive it. But why would it say ready if it hadn't arrived in Rio? Are we missing something? Should we contact the NVC?

Thanks in advance. I really don't know what we would do without this wonderful VJ community.

You can contact NVC directly and they’ll let you know if interview date has been assigned. Most embassy’s have a waiting list for interviews and may take a little longer to schedule .

good luck

NVC doesn't schedule interviews for a K-1. NVC only gets the approved I-129F, assigns a case number, packages it, and sends it off to the embassy. The embassy or the individual schedules the interview (varies from embassy to embassy).

My assumption is the embassy hasn't received the physical packet yet or hasn't processed it into their system still.

Thanks for your response.

So it's possible that they have our packet, but just haven't put it in the system? If this is the case, that would make me feel better. But I'm still confused  why would the NVC say that it's already in Rio when it isn't actually there? It just worries me that it could be lost in the mail. :(

Did you try tracking the package from NVC?

Somebody posted a link on how to do it way back, but the simplified version is to just go here and enter the reference number and date range. The reference number is in the following format:

EXP dd MMM yyyyA

dd = 2 digit day

MMM = month (abbreviated)

yyyy = 4 digit year

Example: EXP 24 APR 2017A

http://www.dhl.com/en/express/tracking/shippers_reference.html

While I don't know if this is always the case, they tend to be 1 day behind the actual ship date. So the packages shipped today (the 25th) have a reference number of the 24th.

Just tried this, but no luck. No results appeared.

Dang. I tried a bunch of queries myself from mid-Sept. to now and no luck either. I see packages for other countries, but none for Brazil. =\

Edit: nvm on the rest..of course NVC got it already since you have a case number.

It might just take awhile to be input in their system. My consulate was Canada, and they weren't actually ready for me to go to the next step (which I think is when they put me in their system), until 3 weeks after my tracker said ready.  Even more annoying is that I was told we were a pivot case, and were being trialled in the new electronic system.... So it's not like there was any actual mailing involved.  Hopefully they will have it soon! I would definitely keep contacting them at least once a week just to check in.
