Case expedited?

We just received an e-mail that was titled, "immigration visa case has been expedited"

in the email it said "The U.S. Embassy in ________ approved your request for expedited processing of your immigrant visa application. The National Visa Center sent your petition to this U.S. Embassy for their action. The Embassy will contact you soon to schedule a visa interview."

This was coupled with an email to me saying the NVC received our case. We received our NOA 2 on October 4th.

My question is, is this normal? I don't remember filing anything to expedite it. Is this just a normal email response from the NVC?

Are you living abroad with your fiance? It's generally not normal to expedite without a request, but I heard they may expedite for couples living abroad. But I thought that was only for a spouse, not a fiance....and because DCF wasn't available in the home country.

Others can correct me if i'm wrong...but i seem to recall several people from the earlier this year who did k1s having the same experience. And this happened in relation to nvc or was it the local embassy where the beneficiary will be interviewing (i cant remember exactly which one) transitioning into an "online system". This did not happen for all though, only in some cases where the online system is already in place such as (again if i remember correctly) germany.

No, I am living in the U.S., my fiance (who I am petitioning for) is here with me visiting. He has been going back in forth from Canada the past year.

Where is the expedite request? Maybe I filled it out and do not remember since we did all the initial forms and paperwork back in May.

Your timeline looks normal so that's probably an accidental notice. I don't even think you need to think about it as your case moved to nvc.

congratulations! And good luck 😉

They did tell us to fill out an online Nonimmigrant Visa form (DS-160). Maybe Montreal has the online system you are talking about?

The funny thing is that the expedite notice came from NVC, right? NVC can't really do anything to expedite an I-129F....all they do is receive it, give it a number, do some basic packaging, then send it to the embassy. It's not there long enough for an expedite to even do anything.

I can only vaguely remember germany, not montreal sorry. But if im right then maybe montreal has the new system now too. It makes sense to have it in montreal since they seem to have it in more advanced western countries. I'm trying to find the threads but it needs combing through pages and pages of comments. Try and look at the 129-F feb 2017 filers thread or in the Germany portal.

Correct. And its not really an expedite. It's just a cut down on the time it takeS for them to assign a number (maybe) and then not having to manually ship/transfer the case to the local embassy (since they instead upload it into an online system). The "expedite" letter is i suspect auto generated when they upload the case into the new online system at nvc. They have this letter attached to the sytem and cannot or did not update it for some reason maybe?

But dont take my word for it as this is only my vague recollection.

Yay! Thank you! I do have a couple questions. So I filled out the online forms, will we still have more forms we need to fill out and send in? Or just the ones we will need to take to the interview?

Just the ds160 online and pay your visa fee. I made a ustraveldocs login sent my receipt and info and they scheduled my interview . The only thing we stuffed up on is my fiance ( now husband ) had sent me the wrong affidavit of support form. I organised the medical and picked up the reports the day before I flew to embassy for interview. It all happened so quickly. I had so much extra evidence of support that wasn't even looked at.
