AOS packet at NVC now what

Hey everyone! So my AOS packet arrived at the NVC on October 6th. I contacted my local congressman and his office has put in a request to follow up on my case. His assistant informed me that the file is marked as congressional and may be expedited. Does anyone have an experience with this? Is there any way to keep updated on where my case is now? I have an important surgery that I need but am postponing it because I need my husbands support not only emotionally but financially. Any advise? Should I try to expedite ?
