Hi everyone good day to all. I was just wondering how someone who's retired wants to come and visit me and the wife what's the best way to get them here. Like how long does an visa take after they apply etc

How long it takes varies by embassy, but I think USEM is a matter of a week to get an interview, then a week or so to get the passport. A rough estimate is here: https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/general/wait-times.html/

They must qualify for the visa on their own, so beyond pointing them to the application and helping them fill it out, the rest is in their hands. They need to have and show ties to return home.

Strong ties to the Philippines are #1 for a Tourist visa.

Ties = owning land/house, bank accounts (with money in them ;) ), job is out.. they are retired.

Age is also a factor, I have seen USEM being more lenient with issuing tourist visas to seniors.

As @geowrian ...  pointed out you can point them in the correct direction but beyond that it will all be based on "them".

How long to get the Tourist visa after getting a thumbs up at the interview?  About maybe a week.

The old and the rich have a much greater success for a Tourist Visa from USEM.

Well, I have to disagree with your statement. Sure old have a little easier time of it but to say all old and all rich is such a blanket statement which you havn't produce any factual information to prove your claim. It sure lends credibility to your statement if you can cite some "facts" other than opinion. Over the years Hank and I have seen some who probably got through when others didn't but they weren't old and they weren't rich. With USEM it's the luck of the draw. Never could see any rhyme or reason to how they approve tourists visit but many have used Hank's formula and have succeeded and those that haven't failed or came back to "bat" a second, third or even a fourth time before being approved. Others just gave up after the first time.

If I had 10 girls I knew went to USEM and applied for Tourist visa all under age 30 I would bet 0 would get approved.

I have a good buddy who father worked at Clark and when the closed down his father was offered US Visa and he could of went with his Dad but his mother didn't want him to go.  Long story short his father and some of siblings are now US citizens.  He has spent time in Australia on Tourist Visa for I think 6 months.  He is around age 30 now, he has applied a few times for US Tourist VIsa and he tells the CO all he wants to do is surf the waves in California,  He is a surfer.  He keeps getting denied.

I have been watching people apply and get denied usually and some approved for close to 15 years now, I have to stand by statement of Rich or Elderly have a much greater success rate.  You go there as young adult no matter your gender and odds are going to be against you.

Just when you think you have TDS eradicate,  a new case shows up.
