Police Certificate from the US?

Hi there,

I tried to find this in different topics but have not found a 100% answer.

As I was on a student visa in the US for almost 3 years, I wonder if I need to get a police certificate from the US itself?

Or are they checking on the background check anyway?

I tried to research for the city of Los Angeles - but I don't even find any information on this. Only thing I find is if I had committed a crime and how I could get this straight.

Just trying to prepare as much as I can at this stage while waiting on NOA2!

Thanks in advance!

N-400: 12/05/2023 (confirmed fingerprints are re-used)

Interview scheduled for: 05/09/2024

From what I've read on the embassy website (Japan) you don't need it from US.

I'll try to find the English version!
