Living abroad while waiting for my husband’s green card

Long story short. I got married while I was abroad before I got naturalized and now I am planning to sponsor my son and husband to the US. During the 2 yr wait, I do not and cannot separate from them since my husband is working 12 hrs per day so I have to stay abroad  to take care of my child. Will my PR status be at risk if I already filed for re-entry permit and manage to come back to the US every 5 months?

Can you please clarify your status. You say you have been naturalized?? If this is so, you are now a USC and this status will not be affected by living overseas. But you ask about your PR status and a re entry permit. Can you please clarify ?

Sorry for the confusion.

I'm a PR as of today. I lived in the U.S. since 1992 but my parents never got naturalized and I left U.S. right when I was 18 yrs old . I was so stupid not to file for naturalization before I left. I'm now full of regrets...

You could have got a baby transportation letter as an LPR who had a baby overseas. This would enable you to bring the baby to the USA. You wouldn't need to stay overseas to care for the baby.

Even with a re-entry permit your admission into the country is not guaranteed. It's a risky game to effectively be living overseas and making occasional trips here to try and keep your LPR status active.

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath

Unfortunately, my child is not an infant no more.

how long u been outside US?

I'm wondering the same thing. She's got married and had a baby overseas whilst maintaining this pseudo-residency status for so long that the child is no longer an infant. So this had been going on for several years already.

You know it doesn’t quite work like that, right? How long have you been doing this for? When did you get a reentry permit?

Yes of course. But what can I do? Leave my 13 yr old in his own country? I already mentioned, my husband works around the clock. I'm planning to get a re-entry permit and come back to the US staying as much as I can... until my spouse and kid get their green card.

I must be not understanding. Adding up the above implies that you’ve been out of the US for 13+ years, traveling back every 5 months, and now plan to sponsor your spouse and child for green cards despite not living in the US and not planning to until they get said green cards. I’ve clearly missed something somewhere.

Your are right. Is it possible if my son gets a travel visa and come to US with me while he waits for his LPR? That way I won’t have to risk my LPR as abandoned.

The fact that you haven't had your LPR status revoked yet after 13 years of twice a year "visits" to the place that is supposed to be your home amazes me.
