We are a gay, interracial couple. I’m originally from India and my boyfriend is white. We have been dating for almost 9 months, and plan on getting married and immediately filing for a green card. The relationship is 100% “bona-fide.” But since my parents don’t approve of the marriage, the only evidence we currently have is photos and some WhatsApp chat logs. However, after we get married, we plan on co-mingling our finances. Also, the wedding will have, at most, 2 people. I don’t have any friends and would rather my family not find out I’m gay. Obviously, in the marriage-interview, we plan to present our joint bank account, etc, as evidence of our relationship. I plan on living with him from the time we get married. I’m on a TN visa as a Canadian.

The US government does not care if your a gay interracial couple at all, they just want to make sure everything is good to go. So please get that out of your head that the government will look down on you because of they won't.

So basically since your in Canada right now on a valid visa you have the option to do processing there instead of India. You have to figure out right now if you want to do the K1 route or the CR1 route, the K1 is for fiances and the CR1 is for married couples, there is NO K3 visa at all. Once you decide on what you want to do you can go forward from there.

you don`t need a proper wedding to show that your relationship is bona-fide. I think you should be OK what you have.  Just collect the documents as your relationship progress. Don`t get into thinking parents etc.

Here is list - just collect what you have:

Evidence Showing Bona Fide Marriage:
☐ Joint IRS Tax Return Transcripts (if you have it).

☐ Birth Certificate of your children (if you have any).

☐ Joint Lease or Mortgage showing joint tenancy (if you have it).

☐ Joint Bank Statements. (Checking, Saving, Credit Cards etc.).

☐ Joint Utility Bills (Or Utility Bills showing the same address for each spouse)

 ☐ Joint Cell Phone Bills.

 ☐ Joint Car title.

 ☐ Joint Car Insurance.

☐ Life insurance showing each other as beneficiary.

☐ Retirement accounts showing each other as beneficiary.

☐ Health, dental Insurance showing you are on one another plan.

☐ Photographs (Weddings, Trips, Family gatherings, Friends)

☐ Affidavits from your family, friends having personal knowledge of your bona fides marriage.

I understood he was from Canada, in the USA, on a TN.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

Yeah I had to go back and re-read that thank you. I was thinking he was from India living in Canada now with a US boyfriend.
