Hello everybody,

I will summarize my relationship to make it easier to understand my situation.

Me and my fiancé are putting together all the paperwork for the k1. I have some concerns though. We have met in May 2016 in USA and we spent the summer together but I had to leave because my visa was about to expire. We weren't ready or sure about our relationship of course because of the little time we spent together. So we didn't take any commitments at the time, we just decided that maybe someday we'd visit each other or anyway we'd keep in touch and we did keep in touch as -let's say- good friends (and we never had other relationships). Meanwhile around November 2016 he got sick and he is still under therapies, he is not working right now, he spends most of the time resting. In March 2017 we decided to get married and do the k1, though it's taking a while for many reasons. So, he is not able to come visit me and I wasn't able either because I was working as a trainee in a hotel and I didn't have vacation days or money to travel to USA (I'm from Italy). Now I am working and I am saving some money for all this paperwork.

Now, I am concerned if USCIS will take our relationship as a real one because we didn't see each other in more than a year (though we decided to get married in March). What if we attach a certificate about his health issues? Would it be an issue for USCIS that he's sick and he's not working at this time in terms of affidavit even if his mother is willing to sponsor me? I don't know if we should tell USCIS that he's sick right now.

Or the fact that we've been together only for 4 months and maybe it doesn't sound real after being apart for so long.

Thank you for your help

It sounds fine. I'm presuming you took a lot of pictures together and saved proofs from your visit.

His mother can be sponsor. It's up to you if you want to disclose his illness, it would give more insight into why he isn't working and sometimes when we are faced with possibly losing someone, our real feelings are stronger.

But....do not plan on getting married in March. K1s are taking longer these days. Do not make ANY wedding plans until you have your visa in your hand. Many people come here upset about having made plans or buying tickets and then don't have visa yet.

I hope your boyfriends health gets better soon.

Italy is not a high fraud embassy so I don't think you'll have many issues.  Just provide enough proof that your relationshipis is genuine, and if you could visit again during the process that would definitely help your case.
