Hi vj families. My husband filed the I130 for  my 18 year old son this month. We already got the receipt notice. I am hoping he will be with us next year. My question is, can my son  stay in California for a week with my Aunt before he will come and live with us permanently? My Aunt promise him to take him to Disneyland. I will met him in California. By the way, we live in NC. So, California will be his POE. Thank you

Once your son is in the United States he is free to travel to anywhere he wants  within the US.

Upon clearing POE your son will receive an I-551 stamp in his passport (this is a "green card" good for one year) and as Greenbaum noted he can travel anywhere in the USA without issue.  But then he can also travel internationally if wanted and enter the USA without issue (for up to a year) using the I-551 stamp in his passport.

Once your son has his visa from USEM you will need to pay the ELIS fee through USCIS, then once he clears POE his actual green card will be processed and mailed to his home address there in NC.
