We FINALLY scheduled our K-1 visa interview at the embassy in Bogota. You have to create an account and get your DS-160 first. https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-co/niv

Then after you do that, create an account on that website and schedule your interview. If it doesn't let you schedule it, email them at: asa_contactus+co+ivcasenumber@visaops.net

And include the following in your email:

1. Subject: Case number is not ready to be programmed.

  • Full name of the applicant:
  • Applicant's date of birth:
  • Scanned copy of the appointment notification letter you received from the National Visa Center (NVC) or the Kentucky Consular Center (KCC) or letter of instructions you received from the Consular Section.

I included my NVC approval and attached it to the email as proof.

Buena suerte!

Morning! Are you sure that the embassy in Bogota has received your petition?? When looking at your case status it should be updated with BGT at the end of the HAV number. You may be able to schedule an interview and everything but if they don't have your case they won't be able to process the visa.

Yep, that's what my email from the NVC said. That BOGOTA has our petition.

And the NVC cannot change your case number. I've asked, begged, and pleaded SEVERAL TIMES. Trust me.

That's why you have to sent them (u.s. embassy bogota) an email with your updated NVC approval letter designating BOGOTA. Otherwise, you cannot schedule your interview.

That's awesome! I'm so happy for you and excited that Bogota is finally getting petitions from Cuba.

Oh yea, I know. NVC won't change your case number but when sending it to another embassy they'll usually add the other ebassy's initials to the end of it. For example I requested my petition be transferred from Havana to Argentina the case number stayed the same but they added BNS to the end of it.

Congratulations again on getting an interview date! I hope the rest of the process goes smoothly :)

By the way, please let us know what the Colombian embassy says. I looked up the requirements for visitor visas, and my one concern is that the applicant has to have bank statements that show what is a balance of roughly ~$1,200 for 3 months. My husband doesn't have a bank account, so I'm hoping I can just give my information and sign something saying I'm financially responsible, but it's really not clear.

I don't believe that those requirements will be looked at because that's just for a visitor visa. In these cases, yes they need visitor visas but their immigrating to the US. From what I've read all they need is the interview letter from the US embassy in Bogota to get their visa.

I'm sure once Ari's fiance gets out of the Colombian Embassy she'll be able to correct me if I'm incorrect lol

Hi,

where have you been checking your case status that you’ve seen that they added the new embassy where it’s being processed?

Hii

I've checked the status here.. and it can be under either category, non immigrant or immigrant so try both.

Hi,

Would you mind posting the email the embassy sent you saying that your case was in Bogota, of course removing personal details. I just want to know how the email is structured. I am going crazy, I've called everywhere today and all they tell me is the same thing that it says on the Havana website.

Thank you in advance :D

So our interview date is December 27 & 28. The 27th is his fingerprinting and photo appointment in Bogota. The 28th is the actual visa interview.

Also, you have to do the doctor's appointment in BOGOTA. If you look on the U.S. Embassy Havana website, they updated their documents. Look at the doc attached.

HAV - Havana.pdf

Did you already do the medical in Cuba as well?

No, the Columbian embassy told me nothing. I just scheduled our interview on their website. The NVC said they sent our case to them and it's been there sitting around for over 2 months.

Once I sent the Columbian embassy my letter from the NVC, they let me schedule the interview.

I just made an account on the site you suggested but it asks me what my purpose is, I assume I select  the following option:

  • I have received a letter from the consular section with instructions to register or schedule a K visa appointment.
Is this correct? Is the email you received what you used? Or did you have to get another letter/email from the Colombian embassy? I am worried about going further as I might be penalzied or something. What do the next steps look like?

I am feeling so desperate. NVC just keeps saying "Bogota will e-mail you" but they don't respond at all and I haven't received anything. I am begging the NVC to send me the same email you received, but they won't. Not only am I missing my fiancé like crazy, but I also have a job interview in a couple hours and no idea what to tell them about when I can start....

Not sure if this is relevant to anyone but me, but the Colombian embassy in Port of Spain told us that my husband has to go back to Cuba to get his Colombian visa. They only give visas out in the country in which you're a resident.

Hey there!

I just added my information to the spreadsheet. I’m still waiting on the NOA2...we have about 2 months to go before we will receive it. I will be in Cuba with my hunny for Christmas, but unfortunately, the Colombian embassy will be closed. I’ll keep you guys posted on any information I find out while in country.

Hugs!

Hi all!

My updates/milestones are in my signature. I usually update it when something changes. A had his medical last week. Everything went well. We're just waiting on his paperwork (birth/police/military/single certificates) from Cuba to be ready and then we can send copies to the embassy for them to send a date for the interview.

They said the ppwk will be ready by 12/22 so we're having his mom send photocopies to his email so he can send them off the same day to the embassy in Argentina. That way we can get ahead of things and get an interview date ASAP since they just need copies sent to them and then he can bring all the originals to the interview.
