Yes, some people have. It also depends if your local embassy would allow it.

For my I-129F, K-1, AOS, EAD, AP and ROC detailed timelines, please refer to my timeline page :)

ROC filed on December 1, 2020, assigned to SRC, approved within 106 days on February 18, 2021.

My sincerest gratitude to all VJers, especially the late geowrian.

Hi All,

Has anyone taken their fiancé to their interview.

Depends on the Embassy and even then on the 'mood' of the person answering your enquiry email at the respective Embassy...in Nairobi, I was refused to go with him (security concerns they told me...BS!!). Yet another same sex couple K1 interview in Cairo, Egypt was allowed. So who knows...

Just email them and ask

Thanks for all your feedback. I possibly should have asked the question better. I know it is possible I was chasing feedback from this that may have taken this option and it it was beneficial or not worth worrying about.

Cheers

Well I am the one sitting the interview and I am not concerned by it. We have lived together for 5 years now. If I don't know her by now :-)

and if I attend I my own I can stir her up based on the outcome 😝

It depends on your application and if you think you might need to be there to explain anything in detail? Other then that it's more for moral support, I'm sure Australia isn't a high fraud country and not to difficult to get approved for a K-1 Visa. So  I doubt anyone here can say oh yes you need to go or no you shouldn't, weigh your case and what you want to do then decide. You didn't give much evidence or information as to why you wanted to be there for the interview.

How im going to start to apply on this k1 fiance visa?

Check out the tab above that says "Guide" then click on the Immigration tab, then the K-1

visa guide...it's probable not a good idea to high-jack someones post though.

My fiancé and I went back and forth with this as well and, in the end, I didn’t go to the interview. We figured that we had a legitimate relationship, our case had no red flags and, Australia is a low fraud country. We were approved.

Having said that, it KILLED me that I couldn’t be there to support her and calm her nerves.

I guess it’s up to you. If you can afford the trip, I’d do it. But, if you’re worried about it impacting your case, I’d say that if everything is in order and there are no red flags, it wouldn’t make a difference at the Sydney consulate.

I was in Sydney at the time with my now husband and I just walked with him to the building and not allowed to go in with them for the K1 interview. They did ask when the last time he saw me was and he was able to answer a couple of minutes ago and the officer seemed to be impressed with this answer :)

I then went for a run assuming it would be an hour or two but his interviewed lasted about 5 minutes. When I got back from my run he was sitting in the hotel run with the good news that he was approved.

I just happened to plan my trip to visit him by chance at the same time his interview was scheduled. We celebrated his approval by brunch and purchasing our wedding bands in Sydney together that same afternoon. It ended up being a really great experience together :)
