I-134 Unemployed Documentation for K1 and Co-sponsor Questions

Hey guys,

We have received our NOA2 and are waiting for notification from the consulate in Rio de Janeiro to set up the medical exam and interview. In the meantime, we're trying to get as much documentation as possible organized.

I am really confused with the newest I-134 form and I am having a hard time finding updated information about it. Here are my questions:

1. I am unemployed. For Part 3 (Other Information About the Sponsor), how do I correctly indicate that I'm unemployed?

2. For evidence, the directions ask for a letter from my employer. I don't have an employer, so do I omit it? I've read that some people write a letter with an explanation, but I would like to specifically what I can do to substitute for this requirement and what to put in this letter. I've worked in the past, have tax returns, pay stubs from past jobs, and W2s, etc. Do I include this information as well? If so, what exactly do I need to include?  I also have a co-sponsor that can supply all the evidence, but I cannot due to my present unemployment.

3. The directions only ask for a letter from an employer, a bank statement, and bonds. Tax returns are only required if self-employed. My co-sponsor is not self-employed. I keep reading that W2s, pay stubs, and tax returns are included as evidence in the old I-134, but are these documents necessary? How much proof is actually recommended? Here are the directions:

4. I have several areas that are not applicable. In the directions, it states that, "Answer all questions fully and accurately. If a question does not apply to you (for example, if you have never been married and the question asks “Provide the name of your current spouse”), type or print “N/A,” unless otherwise directed. If your answer to a question which requires a numeric response is zero or none (for example, “How many children do you have” or “How many times have you departed the United States”), type or print “None,” unless otherwise directed." However, I'm typing my form and it doesn't allow me to type N/A OR None in several places! I can handwrite the document, but I was wondering if other people filled in every single line of the form or if many lines were left blank.

5.  Does Rio de Janeiro's U.S. Consulate accept co-sponsors? Has anyone done all the paperwork and been successful? Their consulate's website doesn't explicitly say, but basically just requests proof that you have enough money to support your fiancé.

Thanks Visa Journey friends!

If there is a field that require input and cannot be typed in using the computer, when you're done with the document, print it and then write those fields in black ink.

EDIT: Sorry, did not read the question properly. Spaces that doesn't apply to you, you can also handwrite. "N/A" or "none" too.

Thanks! I will do this.
