Agreed! If the marriage is bonafide and you can prove it, it shouldn't be an issue :)

Agreed it is not an issue but taking time off, waiting, etc..we are waiting for the ROC Card to arrive. I understand it is 1.5 years out? So maybe we will get an interview. It is a great experience though as for the ROC it should be simple and quick and to prepare spouse for the Citizenship Interview which will be more comprehensive.

ROC heading towards N-400? Woohoo! I'm still a long ways away B-) The waiting is kinda crazy in general.

For my I-129F, K-1, AOS, EAD, AP and ROC detailed timelines, please refer to my timeline page :)

ROC filed on December 1, 2020, assigned to SRC, approved within 106 days on February 18, 2021.

My sincerest gratitude to all VJers, especially the late geowrian.

Oh not yet by far....:-(  It is just a waiting thing. We filed in May 2017 and it will not come until Aug 2018 at the earliest. However,, if we file the N400 on the 90 days before the 3 years I-551 is up, hopefully both adjudications will occur at the same time

Best thing to do is get the household set up, enjoy your time together, and don't worry about the interview.  We had an interview when interviews were rare.  It was painless.

Work on getting him: On the bank account, the credit cards, the health insurance plan, the car insurance, make him your life insurance beneficiary, add him to your lease (if you are renting), and make sure you have matching drivers licenses.  Normal married stuff.

Our IO:

Dug through a cool photo album my wife made during her few months there, checked our keys to make sure they matched (I was like HUH? Didn't think of that, pretty smart) and made copies of our credit cards that had the same numbers but different names.  We got the email notification that our case was approved that night.  It took about a half hour.  We were terrified too.  Very stressful.  We had no idea what to expect so we had an armful of all kinds of %@$#.  Worse we were the only couple there without a lawyer.  First thing the IO asked me was so are you guys doing OK today and I said "yes until I sat down in a roomful of lawyers" then he said "I'm also a lawyer"....oops.  I was trying to be funny.

Good luck!

We are just afraid we wont have enough regular “marriage” stuff to show. I am a student and we are both living with my parents so no rental agreement. The only bank card I have is my debit card which is linked to my fathers account, no credit cards. I also dont have a life insurance plan and my health insurance is through my parents. He also may not have a license for a while since he cant work without the GC so there has been no purpose for him to have one.

You can still open a joint bank account together as a student and  have a credit card together (you don't have to use it often). These things will also start helping with building your and his credit.

We have just been adding my husband to bank cards, my car loan, and we just opened a bank account together at a credit union to start building his credit again in the US.

Someone posted a thread a month ago or so after attending some kind of presentation by USCIS I think. He/she spoke to a USCIS personnel and it's been said that everyone will be subjected to interview, not sure how soon is the enforcement of such "rule". Guess with the Trump Administration, they are probably working hard towards weeding out those who are considered not having a bonafide relationship for a "family based/sponsored" green card. Either way, you guys should be prepared for a potential green card interview. All the best!

Ps: I wish I could find the link to the other forum post I'm talking about. Too many bookmarks on my phone and difficult to plough through :jest:

That was me and here is a link to the topic:

I also posted this there but reposting here for ease:

It looks like there was a news release from USCIS about this but it doesn't specifically say K-1 adjustors, it's more about those for employment or refugee status:

https://www.uscis.gov/news/news-releases/uscis-to-expand-in-person-interview-requirements-for-certain-permanent-residency-applicants

However, it does state "Beyond these categories, USCIS is planning an incremental expansion of interviews to other benefit types."  Based on that, I would guess we would likely start to see fewer waivers for K-1 AOS and more interviews.
