Hi Everyone,

I'm curious about if one must sent the police record to NVC before she can be scheduled for an interview?

My friend gets everything done except the police record, it will take nearly 1 month to get it ready. But she wants to submit the documents to NVC as soon as possible.

The official website of NVC said you can submit an explanation letter about why the document is missed.

Can she just send what she has now and write an explanation letter that she will definitely bring the police record at the interview?

Or she won't even be scheduled an interview because of missed document?

Anyone met the same situation before??:(

What I understood so far from the process is that, if you do not send the police certificate with the NVC package then they will give you a checklist, which is going to ask for the police certificate anyway even though official website said to put explanation letter . Usually that checklist delays the entire process a bit. I would recommend, send all the documents all together in ONE package to be on safe side. Why should you take a risk if you can avoid it.  Good luck gathering all the documents !!

Depends on what visa type

K1 you take criminal report to interview

CR1 and IR1 you send (when requested) as there will be a new NVC type case number and a bar code cover letter to be sent back with documents

all documents sent to NVC should have the case number, both names and both DOB's at upper right hand corner  of each and every document

send all documents in one mailing so they are kept together / immigration is known to loose documents

If it's been requested, I would wait till it can be submitted.  My guiding principle was make it easy to approve.  Incomplete submissions always cause delays.  It won't be processed any faster if it's incomplete.

Hello, we just got our NOA2 approval from USCIS and we were told our case has been forwarded to U.S Dept of state NVC for further processing. Do we have to wait for NVC directions on what documents to provide or do we need to contact NVC or wait for them to contact us. Plus how long will it take, kindly reply. Thanks!

Honestly, You don't really have to wait for them to email you. You should call them and ask for your case and invoice number. After you get you case and invoice number, you have chose an agent for your case, which can be anyone ( petitioner, beneficiary or anyone you feel comfortable). The purpose of the agent is that any information regarding your case will go to agent from then on. In my case, I (the petitioner) am the agent. After you do that, you will get an welcome email from NVC (wait about a week for the welcome email) and then you can start paying the fees one by one. In the mean time, I would recommend you to start gathering all the supporting documents you need. Good Luck !!

Yes. You should start calling. The best time to call NVC is early in the morning or later at night. NVC hours: M-F 7am-12pm EST.

Please visit this below website for the documents. You will find all the information in this website.

Hello, we got a welcome letter and a cover sheet from NVC on 30th October, 2017. We have filled the Ds-261 form for Agent which is the petitioner/beneficiary. But we were told to hold on for some days before we can pay AOS fee or how does it work?

Thanks
