Does anyone know if affidavits really help your case? If been told they don't matter much but just want to double check!

I don't know how helpful it is but it will definitely not hurt your case. I had a couple of friends and family giving sworn affidavits of our relationship. Middle east US embassy are known to be tough so in your case, I would definitely get a few. Good luck!

Such affidavits carry little to zero weight in the overall evaluation of a file.  Skip them in favor of evidence of time spent together in-person.

Hello, I think they are not of that much value as you can get friends to say anything. You can add if you wish to add to the body of evidence. I would recommend a US Citizen friend/friends...say two to three letters at the maximum. I enclosed their Passport copy of the front page too. I wouldn't spend much time on this though

I disagree with others here. My husband and I submitted three notarized affidavits from friends/family who were at our wedding, and I submitted one myself. I am the sponsor. We submitted these along with receipts from our wedding with both our names, and copies of all pages of life insurance policies and other assets I own with my husband as the beneficiary. It's true that you may be able to get your friends to lie, but you can also easily fake photos, letters, social media screen shots and all of that. We submitted nothing personal really, only legal documents, and we were approved with no RFE. It certainly can't hurt! I was told the magic number is three affidavits. It worked for us!

Affidavits carry very little weight.  Your joint assets and life insurance was your trump card, not the affidavits.

I admit I submitted them as well but I knew they weren't really helpful.

Each country is a little different too.  For you and I, from 1st world countries that can easily visit the USA, they burden of proof is quite small.  I've seen USCIS cases be approved from the UK with nothing more than the marriage certificate!  There's no chance a spouse from Pakistan would be able to do that.

We did not provide anything but the legal documents as well for our petition I have heard we will get a RFE so it's refreshing to hear you didn't as you know that would take more time. I'm going to have my husband get an affidavit and I will also like you said it can't hurt thank you so much for your feedback we appreciate it

I agree and would add that often these affidavits are lame and meaningless.  They can actually hurt your case by making you look desperate.
