Using Visa Processing Companies

Thanks people. I think I'm starting to feel more confident in doing it ourselves. Our only complication is that we are both divorced but we have the documents needed. My man has been here in Scotland for 4 months with me so we can prove having met! Just got a quote for shipping the house - £8k!!! So need to save every penny. We can get all the documents ready (minus my divorce decree - due shortly) before he returns on 2nd Nov so we won't have to post things back and forth to get it going. Many thanks for all the support. Be prepared to do it again!

As long as it is not a complicated case(divorce does not complicate it btw) then you are good to go and do not need a visa processing company or a lawyer. Just use the uscis webpage and this site for your application and you will be fine.

A very recent divorce on the part of the beneficiary may raise an eyebrow or two.

I got re married 20 days after my absolute was granted. That'll raise 4 or 5 eyebrows lol.

The instructions are very clear on all the petitions, you'll be fine. Take all the questions at face value, there are no trick ones. Don't try and overthink things, it really is a straightforward form.

Good luck.

We're just about to kick off the K1 visa process. We are thinking about using RapidVisa, the online visa checking company that guarantee your visa and triple check it etc. Has anyone used them and would they recommend it? Does it slow the process down? We want to ensure all the paperwork is perfect so we can get through the process as quickly as possible. Best regards.

Do they 'guarantee' you a Visa? That's a lie. No one can. If you speak English, use this site to do it. I made the mistake of using a Lawyer for the Initial petition. After approval, I fired him, and did the rest ourselves. Visa Journey is a 'God'Send!! Believe me.

There is a guidance document on here regarding the K1 Visa. Worth its weight in gold...or bytes..and more. I would use it instead

We did pay for RapidVisa because my husband liked the monthly payments and the triple checking.

They found some inconsistencies in our paperwork before sending it and we fixed them (they weren't obvious, for instance, we got married one day but my paperwork says the previous date,  the registry does this thing for weekend weddings, ugh.) so I'm sure it might have prevented some future delays or RFEs, we thought it was worth the money.

Having said that, they can't make the process go faster, and I wouldn't necessarily say it's worth the money for everyone, especially if you have a simple case and you check things thoroughly and know what to look for. It gives us some peace of mind and we're done with all the things needed for NVC. Do whatever works better for you :)

I'm in the same boat! due to the damn lawyer, it says that my divorce went through December 16th and I re-married January 7th. I have the original judge's documents stating we divorced on February 2016, though. I think people get separated and just divorce when they need to re-marry, all the time, to prevent the money and hassle of it. I'm sure if the relationship is real and there's enough supporting proof/evidence, it shouldn't be a problem.

Nothing wrong with having been married before. This is also my second marriage. 50% of marriages end in divorce.

So, you are waiting for your divorce decree. Is this a very recent divorce? Or is it from some years ago and you have requested a copy of the decree from the courts? A very recent divorce on the part of the beneficiary may raise an eyebrow or two.

My fiance is very recently divorced, however, he is my petitioner... would this cause a problem for me?

HONESTLY... DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY HIRING A LAYWER OR USING RAPID VISA. The guides on this website are perfect and you'll easily be able to do it by yourself, as quick as you like and in your own time :)

People need to stop talking about eyebrows. Divorces are not always fast and most people understand that you don't lock yourself in a room and cut yourself off from everyone emotionally while waiting. The only requirement for a visa is that you are free to marry not how long you have been free to marry. I was divorced and married in less than a month. No big deal.

Make sure you get an extra copy of that divorce degree / you need an original for yourself (keep an original of every important document)

Unless someone has a learning disability a lawyer isn't needed as far as the forms go - or understanding this website. There might be plenty of other reasons, but figuring out how to fill out the forms, isn't one of them.

I LOVE RAPID VISA THEY HELPED ME TO THE T.  MADE SURE ALL MY PAPERWORK WAS SIGNED AND ARRANGED PROPERLY.  MY HUSBAND CAME ON K 1 VISA,  WE WAS WELL PREPARED, AND EVERYTHING THE INTERVIEWER WANTED TO KNOW OR ASKED FOR WE HAD IT ALL... THEY ARE DOING MY AOS NOW.

We used them and to me they are good! If you have support and extra pair of eyes to go over your paperwork multiple times then don't pay for the service, but since I personally do not have any support from family or friends, and  I work a lot, and I  was nervous about all the paper stuff,  I thought it was worth the money. But I filed before I found this site  lol

Good Luck!

Worst mistake this website is the real confusion hiring a badass rated lawyer saves you the headache, stress and heartpain when you receive that RFE... When you make the smallest mistake so stop saying that (don't waste your money) bullshit

holla

A lawyer can't guarantee that you won't receive an RFE....

Either way, it's up to what OP wants. People who use sites such as RapidVisa generally pay for the peace of mind. You can very successfully handle your own case (no one knows your case better than you and your fiance), or you can choose to go the RapidVisa route. On this site, you'll find that most people will be rather insistent that can do your case on your own.  There is no service that can make the visa process go any faster, unfortunately... so do what you're most comfortable with! :)

Thanks everyone. Great to see how eager people are to help. I think with the help of this site and your good selves, we'll do it ourselves. If I can manage the data quality for a high street bank, I can fill a form in!! However the demo form on rapidvisa is very useful and I think I'll print that off before we start for real. Having to remember addresses back 34 years was a challenge! All the best.
