Using Visa Processing Companies

We're just about to kick off the K1 visa process. We are thinking about using RapidVisa, the online visa checking company that guarantee your visa and triple check it etc. Has anyone used them and would they recommend it? Does it slow the process down? We want to ensure all the paperwork is perfect so we can get through the process as quickly as possible. Best regards.

They don't guarantee you get a visa, only thst your application is approved, which, if you look at the approval rate for k1s, it's about 95-97% anyway. Most k1s (including ours) were approved on the American side, which is what rapidvisa guarantees. Some, particularly from embassies that have a history of higher fraud, don't approve many k1s on their side, which are returned to the US (like ours) and are just expired so are null.

We'd be glad to help you on here. People often post their cover letters or table of contents for verification they aren't forgetting anything.  You're free to do what you like, we looked into a service too, but it's still you who does most of the work preparing your package, and it's awfully expensive.  UK generally approves most visas on their side unless there's a glaring overwhelming problem.

They don't guarantee your visa and anyone who claims they can guarantee your visa should not be trusted.

Dont be fooled by the word "Rapid" in their name. It's actually slower as all paperwork has to go through an extra step at their offices. The quickest way is to do it yourself.

I see you are in the U.K. (or your fiancé is) so I am guessing that English is either your native language or you are very fluent in English. The forms are all in English and they don't ask any questions you don't already know the answers to. It's not an advanced nuclear physics test - the forms ask such things as name, date of birth, place of birth, etc. Tedious but not difficult.

Save your money. You'll need it for the several months you cannot work.

Totally agree with all the above

even a lawyer is a rip off

they just send in all the documents you yourself have to collect

so, you want to pay for someone to "mail" these in?

i had a lawyer for CR1 and he left me after a denial (u r with UK ,  not high fraud like Morocco so don't worry)

the lawyer quit after the denial and i did my own appeal /  I won / my husband is here ready to do naturalzaiton

If they really could quarantee it ,  we would all have used the site

they can't guarantee anything except the 1st step which is just an approval that all documents have been sent in

the above forgot the letters of intent to marry

guidelines above and also on USCIS webpage (make sure it says .gov) easy to follow what you need and what to do

don't waste your money

Thanks people. I think I'm starting to feel more confident in doing it ourselves. Our only complication is that we are both divorced but we have the documents needed. My man has been here in Scotland for 4 months with me so we can prove having met! Just got a quote for shipping the house - £8k!!! So need to save every penny. We can get all the documents ready (minus my divorce decree - due shortly) before he returns on 2nd Nov so we won't have to post things back and forth to get it going. Many thanks for all the support. Be prepared to do it again!

Nothing wrong with having been married before. This is also my second marriage. 50% of marriages end in divorce.

So, you are waiting for your divorce decree. Is this a very recent divorce? Or is it from some years ago and you have requested a copy of the decree from the courts? A very recent divorce on the part of the beneficiary may raise an eyebrow or two.

Recent divorce. You have to wait a year of separation in Scotland before you can divorce with consent. I met my new man since the separation, awaiting divorce. I'll explain that in the visa form so it's clear.

Agree with everyone here---you can handle the forms yourself. I think that, at first glance, it seems very confusing. My fiancée and I even watched YouTube videos to see what a completed I-129 looked like and it just seemed like so, so much.

My recommendation is to take your time filling it out. Read the instructions thoroughly, pay attention to the passport photo size, be sure everything is signed. We frontloaded our petition, and though we didn't send 20 pages of photos and scores of chat logs, we were happy with the resulting packet. Someone on here said 'quality over quantity', which were wise words.

There will be things you worry about in retrospect (mine were wondering if we were 'too married' to qualify, the fact my divorce was granted well after my current relationship started, and if being married to a man and now engaged to a woman would raise eyebrows), but you take those days in stride. I think we've all been there!

Good luck! This forum is an amazing tool!

Nope. Don't think so. You have to be divorced. She will be.

Don't explain it. It makes it seem like you feel guilty of something. They are not going to sit around and dream up stories about motives, or affairs, or soap opera plots. There is no requirement to be divorced for a certain length of time. If you are divorced, you meet the requirement.

I said "may" raise an eyebrow or two. Not be a cause for denial. It has been questioned at interviews before. I was asked for dates at my interview because my divorce decree is dated August 2013 (although we had been apart for many years) and I met my current husband in 2012. It's just something to be aware of. Yes, a divorce decree fulfills the legal requirements but you need to be prepared for a bit more than that.
