Sent application via USPS

Hello, hoping someone can put my worry to rest!

 

My fiancè sent our K1 application off via USPS on Tuesday & tracking says it's available for pickup at the post office nearest to Dallas Lockbox...

 

Pleaee tell me that USCIS will collect it like this? Im worried  it was sent as 2 day priority & signed for, or didnt get delivered till 10:30pm so thats why it's been left at a post office...

Next time if you mail something with signature required, don't send to a P.O. box address I'm sure USCIS will go collect their mails. Check the tracking again in a day or so. Fingers crossed.

Cheer up! Dealing with USCIS is always a waiting game. Now you'll wait for them to collect your mail and then wait for them to cash your payment, send you your NOA1 and a longer wait till NOA2.  It will all happen in due time.

Im willing to wait obviously as this process is worth the wait, just didnt want a issue with our application not being recieved

I sent it with a signature confirmation to a PO box. It might take a day or two longer but it will be fine

 

The hard part (for now) is over and you can look forward to being together (and marrying) soon!

Phew thats a relief to hear! So im assuming they picked yours up from the post office?

Yep, that they did. I think the next day or so. I think it'll work out perfectly fine

I wish this statement were true. The hardest part of this process begins after you get your NOA1 while waiting endlessly for a NOA2. This waiting will try you and your relationship. Best of Luck though

Think of the wait as another test of your relationship.  If you make it through relatively unscathed, you have a good relationship.  If the wait makes you feel like breaking up, not so much.  There will be fights but be open and talk about the frustration and stress that the wait causes and you will get through this.

No, there are a lot of difficult parts of this process. The paperwork is done. The waiting, while annoying, is just waiting. You do it for years with USCIS. At least with the K1 visa, you have something - a big something - at the end that makes it worth it. You finally get to be together. I think it's one of the best parts of the process. While being apart isn't fun, it makes you appreciate and miss the other person. It reinforces that you made the right decision and it's the right person for you. That moment when you finally see them at the airport (after waiting anxiously for 1.5 hours) will make the waiting game worth it  I still have the best memories of the airport run.

Oh - don't worry. The getting worried for no reason part is also going to happen at every step of the way BUT there's a great community to help when you do.

I totally agree. Filling out forms and collecting all documents needed to finish up and send the package was the easy part, same goes for the medical, interview etc. The i-129f/K-1 has been the absolut worst part of my immigration process this far simply because of the wait.

 

AOS was like a walk in the park in comparsion since we could actually live our lives together while waiting.
