Hello,

I was wondering if anyone else is having issues with Islamabad, Pakistan USA embassy, my family went for a tourist visa renewal of our USA visa back in February 2017 and have yet to hear back anything on it. After 6 months of waiting they returned our Pakistani passport to us, and said they would let us know when to resubmit them once the visa was approved. When we try to get some type of update from the embassy they assure us that no paperwork is needed and that it is still processing

I have the following questions if anyone is going through the same issues please share:

- Any idea of how long it has become to process a renewal tourist visa is it normal to take this long?

- Is this usual for them to return back the passport and they will let you know when the visa is ready?

- Is there any issue for them to be taking this much time to process it?

If anyone has any information regarding this or can be of assistance, I will highly appreciate it as I am lost? In the past they would renew a visa in 2-3 months after our interview.

Thank you in advance!

No magic number. Speed of US visa issuance highly depends on the duration of each individual's adminstrative processing period.

Yeah, sometimes they return the passport first just in case you'll need it for something else.

Strict background checks these days. Islamabad is also a difficult embassy. Hang in there because AP can be as long or short as it takes.

If anyone has any information regarding this or can be of assistance, I will highly appreciate it as I am lost? In the past they would renew a visa in 2-3 months after our interview.

Thank you in advance!

For my I-129F, K-1, AOS, EAD, AP and ROC detailed timelines, please refer to my timeline page :)

ROC filed on December 1, 2020, assigned to SRC, approved within 106 days on February 18, 2021.

My sincerest gratitude to all VJers, especially the late geowrian.

The delay will be Administrative Processing--security/terrorism checks, in other words.
