Usually when the letter was sent already they will jump to card production the status online. That happened to me when I applied for AOS. I got the approval letter first then 3 days after I got the GC.

Very common - especially with CSC.

I personally received the green card and the approval letter in the mail at the same time.

Don't worry your head over it.

~AOS : 09/11/2014 - 2 YR Green card received!.

~ROC 07/13/2017 - 10 YR Green card received!.

~N-400 : 10/28/2020 - N400 Interview & Approval/Oath Ceremony/US Citizen!

More Importantly, I am a proud Anti-Fascist!

I wonder if I need an approval letter if I already received my 10-year GC. They sent both documents to my old address and luckily I managed to get my GC forwarded to my current address, but not the approval letter. I just don't know if I should ask USCIS to resend it to my new address or I don't even need that piece of paper since I have the actual card in hands.

No need to request for the approval letter, you have the actual card already which is the most important, as well as the letter attached on your green card since you need that letter when dealing with USCIS again in case you lost your green card.
