In Naples I am on 2 1/2 acres so a lot of trees down.  Had some pool cage screens blow out but I always have screen and spline handy and fixed them within a few days.  Otherwise good here.

 

In Big Pine Key, which got hit very hard, my main damage was a fair amount of vinyl soffit that blew out and took a bit of attic insulation with it. Also will have to rescreen back porch and replace a few pieces of aluminum and a screen door.  It's a stilt house and we had almost 3 feet of water under the house during the storm surge.  Downstairs storage room needs some major clean up.  Big boat was secured well under house and stayed put, but a row boat that was chained to concrete piling under house (old rusty chain) broke loose and was gone.  Neighbor said they found it floating around in the canal.

 

Guy across the canal had a nice 23 foot boat on a lift.  It ended up across the canal in my neighbor yard high and dry.  Saw several houses that were a total loss.  They are saying nearly 500 holmes on Big Pine Key were totally destroyed.    I built in '95, a few years after hurricane Andrew, and the code had been upgraded which helped me a lot.

Just a mildly speculative comment on the basis of periodic demographic reports in the newspapers and on TV.  If it makes you feel better, will personally start asking every Hispanic-looking person for his papers, then report back to you, and you can determine whether that person can help fix the hurricane damage.

 

Back to topic of the thread:  If the lower number of unemployment claims is because people are actually being hired, versus giving up looking for work, it's a good thing, regardless of whom we credit.

why would that make me feel better? i wasn't part of the original gripe that illegals can't even be found to hire or your offer to send them, just struck me as odd to see such a suggestion/offer on a legal immigration site.

It's also good for all those who are undocumented and trying to make an honest living.

Because Trump hasn't passed any legislation to try and improve the economy whereas his executive order will be blamed if Obamacare crashes and burns.
