affidavit of support question

My husband (US citizen) is currently petitioning me for an adjustment of status (i-485 and i-130) and since his income wasnt enough for the affidavit of support, a relative helped to sponsorship me.

My question is that, he still has to do his affidavit of support, right? We were filling it but he didnt do his last year's taxes (2016) because he was abroad and unemployed, so he only has the w2 from 2015.

what should I do with this? Im clueless as to how to fill the affidavit of support of him (petitioner) if he's not taking the responsability to sponsor me, should I fill it only with the w2 from 2015? does it matter if we used a joint sponsor?

many thanks :)

He does have income for this year, he was working for 6 months but he quit recently, are pay stubs enough? Im not sure about his last year taxes though...I dont know if he didnt have to file or he just simply didnt do it.

Thanks for the answer!
