Timeline

I filed for a K1 visa for my fiancée in March; finally received the 2nd notice of action a few days ago. My fiancée currently lives in Guatemala: we plan to get married in Los Angeles, hopefully around Christmas time.

Assuming she gets the visa, when she comes to the United States,  I am wondering if she needs to fly into a particular airport, or if it would be possible for her to fly to Tijuana, Mexico and cross the CBX land border crossing there. There's a new, very convenient border crossing at the Tijuana airport, with a bridge connecting the airport with the United States. She would like to fly into TIJ, so I could meet her in the airport before walking across the bridge to the US. The airfare to TJ is quite a bit cheaper than it is to San Diego or Los Angeles, the border crossing at the TJ airport is a lot less hectic, and being able to see her before she presents herself at to US: but can she do this? Do all US immigration checkpoints (those at airports as well as land crossings) have agents that can admit someone coming with a K1 visa, or does she need to fly into a US city? If it is possible, is there a reason why flying into LA or San Diego would be a better choice?

All entry points (by air, land or sea) can process new immigrants and those arriving with visas such as K-1.

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath

Now a US citizen!

I was actually wondering the same thing because this is what I plan to do and it sounds like it would work just fine. The only problem is that for you to cross the CBX with her you would need to have a boarding pass (It's only for people who have flown into Tijuana within 24 hours). Your other option would be to pick her up at the airport and just cross through the regular border (Otay), but you have to get her to the permits office before actually crossing (Where they issue the I-94), and I wouldn't how they handle K-1s there. So I would just recommend that you wait for her at the other side of the bridge in San Ysidro.

I had my neighbors do this. They flew from TJ to Cancun and back, then drove from there to Los Angeles. It's not a problem at all.
