Of course, he gets saw dust all over the basement floor and doesn't clean it up.  :girlwerewolf2xn:  I'm not going to even say anything, because why bother?

Typical woman. Stop your whining!

Poor Dutch had to do chores around the house like a mule, on Christmas no less! And all you do is complain.

Besides, maybe little Dutch just happens to enjoy the smell and feel of fresh sawdust...

Yeah he did.   There is being frugal and being too frugal.  I'd almost bet it still works when the weather warms up too.  He had to to take my car to work today so he could pick up a new battery.

In other irritating Dane news - he put up the trim around my door on Christmas, but where does he saw it next to?  The recently cleaned infant car seat and new car seat cover I made for it.  The saw was on the other side of the basement, why move it there?  Of course, he gets saw dust all over the basement floor and doesn't clean it up.  :girlwerewolf2xn:  I'm not going to even say anything, because why bother?

I swear it's a genetic fault in men 😌

I'm pretty sure I have this gene but it flickers on and off at different times, sort of like our dining room light. Yesterday I mounted an antique phone for decorative purposes in the living room. The wife was at work - yeah all hospital rookies get the short straw on shift selection for Xmas day. After mounting the phone and admiring my handiwork, I noticed there was sawdust on the floor. So I got out the vacuum and cleaned it up.

Can't say I notice that type of thing all the time.

Magic of all magics, he's leaving work and my car begins to have problems.  So, he is sitting at the mechanic with it now.  They think a valve is frozen open.

Can't pick him up if there is a problem because his truck won't start and it is really too far away to ask anyone else to do it.

This, all of this today:

Valve? Stuck? Open? What kind of oil is in the car?

1 valve stuck, car will still start. (Run like ####)

I hope it's not a broken timing chain/ belt.

Man I'm really good at diagnosing car problems....

It is the car's air valves, I think.  They are both broken.  $1000, one week in the shop...

air valves? what do you mean?

Valves, in the heads....

Yeah it's labor intensive. Gotta remove the intake, and if you're  lucky.....

Wait...the GM?

They can replace the valves without removing the head.

1000 bucks is a heavy hit. Depends on how many valves.

It sounds more like they're replacing 1 cylinder head.

It is this issue, I think.  Standard repair is $1000-2000.  They are replacing two of them.  The valves themselves are pretty pricey.

Car is already disassembled at the mechanic, so labor costs already incurred.

Oh on your tree hugger car....

Yeah subarus are weird...

Yep, and the repairs are more expensive than for domestic cars around here.  Got to find a mechanic familiar with the boxer engines.

Apparently these valves might also be related to why I've been having trouble remote starting the car at colder temperatures (or even just regular starting it).

Yeah Subaru's been plugging away with that engine for awhile, they haven't perfected it...

Your GM is easy to work on.

I was telling my mother tonight that I wished I had traded the damn thing in for a domestic SUV before it got in an accident last year.   I might still.  This is its second known issue repair in 6 months and of course, just out of warranty.
