Everyone had a good day yesterday, all loved their presents and no drama so I am happy 😁

Today we have the funeral of a family friend who died unexpectedly Friday, it's hard at anytime to lose your spouse/Dad but at this time of year it seems so much worse :(

Despite our pleas to give the family some privacy to grieve over Christmas MIL went up there yesterday :(

Everything crossed for a smooth and stress free journey

So, the Dane's truck wouldn't start today despite being plugged in.  It was below -20°F not including the windchill.  Why would it not start?  Because the Dane thought he knew better than everyone and should wait to get a new battery.  This battery is over 8 years old and has 110k+ miles on it.  My car started.

Man Dutch got his money's worth outta that battery....

On the boat, I have a 4 bank battery system, 2 deep cycles, and 2 high amp. They're similar to truck batteries. I replace 1 battery every year, whether it be good or not.

For the cars, I replace them every 3-4 years.

Holiday deaths are difficult for sure.

And of course MIL didn't respect their privacy because she's rude and tacky.

Does it work?  I was sad to find out that my rotary phone won't work at my new house because we use a VOIP service, i.e. not enough power in the line.

Just noticed that is one of the old need to tell the operator the number type phones.

I don't know when that phone was last functional. Probably the early 60's. It wasn't an operator connected network. Instead it was a series of phones stretched across one county in N Dakota. To contact someone you used the hand crank on the right side of the phone and x number of cranks meant you wanted someone in the Schultz house, y # of cranks meant someone in the Muller house should pick up, z # of cranks was meant for the Schneiders, etc. It was one huge party line so anyone could theoretically listen in quietly for some gossip if they were bored from playing video games or Housewives of Bismark wasn't playing on the telly.

Guys I want to share that today, after 10 and a half months my husband and I got finally approved. <3 <3 <3

We cried, we laughed, cried again, I'm an emotional mess and we don't really know how to feel or react. It's been such a long and stressful beginning of this journey, but you guys have helped, this forum has been great and I couldn't be happier I've got all of you. (Told you I'm still emotional) I know we still have a long way to go with NVC and the interview (like 6 months) but for now I'm incredibly happy we're over that part and starting the new year actually being able to advance in this process. YEY!

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH so happy for you, querida!

Yeah he did.   There is being frugal and being too frugal.  I'd almost bet it still works when the weather warms up too.  He had to to take my car to work today so he could pick up a new battery.

In other irritating Dane news - he put up the trim around my door on Christmas, but where does he saw it next to?  The recently cleaned infant car seat and new car seat cover I made for it.  The saw was on the other side of the basement, why move it there?  Of course, he gets saw dust all over the basement floor and doesn't clean it up.  :girlwerewolf2xn:  I'm not going to even say anything, because why bother?
