Have you not blocked her number yet...

I'm here to pick mine up, her list of 'needs' includes a hospital reclining chair, additional heat in the bathroom, a different meal to whatever we might want to eat, a TV on the ceiling in her room....

1 o'clock she called me to fetch her & she isn't even dressed....

Counting to 100 backwards - slowly

I'd start the way you mean to go on. "No, you don't need any of that". For starters.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

I've told her and have just finished telling her again

Her dinner has just been delivered, now she won't leave until she's eaten it...

Fine. Is it a long way back and forth? If it isn't, tell her you'll be back to collect her when she's ready. You aren't the hired help.

Who can say, she might be sensible, and you'll be fine. I think it isn't silly to at least know what might lie ahead. Sorry :(

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

My mother would never be this crazy.  Shes probably has her retirement place picked out.  After all her funeral arrangements are already organized and paid for.

I hope it won't be bad.  She does pay for long term care insurance.  So, there's that.

It's an hour away so not really an option, I just got all her things, told the nurse I'll be at the discharge door and left, I'm not playing her games

Mine would sooner chew her arm off than behave like this

MIne has a long-term care policy. She won't use it, until she 'needs' it.

Impulsive buy presents:

I now own this scooter.

1251-tm_thickbox_default.jpg

It wasn't expensive, and it is totally my style.

I  wanted a Vespa, but at more than 3 times the cost it wasn't worth it, especially since I'm only staying for 6 months or so and needed a vehicle to move around town.

I want to take it to Austin with me, but I know it's expensive, and a logistical/permit/paperwork nightmare. I'll look into it, just in case it's an actual possibility and it doesn't end up being a ton of money, it's funny since it's mostly people buying American cars and legalizing them here. The brand is Italika, It's a Mexican/Latin-American company.

On top of that, I'm changing my INE (ID card) and getting a motorcycle license, the bike's license plates, insurance etc. this week. It's boring but at least it makes me feel like I'm somewhat stable and my life is going somewhere, even if it's just me pretending to be stable for a while.  My husband arrives in 5 days and that's exciting as well, we are spending a month together Hopefully an approval letter will arrive while we're here so we can close the year with it I can't think of a better present, but I'm slowly realizing it might not happen this year at all, and I'm also getting emotionally ready for the possibility.

Very cool. It looks like your style. I've never owned or even ridden a scooter but I'm definitely not a snob about it as a long time motorcycle rider. I commute to work on my moto for 10 months out of the year (currently riding the bus in Dec and Jan). I think it's a good purchase compared to Vespa. But of course, I also think Hondas are way better values than Harley Davidsons so we're in alignment in that way. Enjoy riding. It's fun in a warm climate like Cozumel.

Hopefully she'll be finding herself needing it soon.  I doubt the daughter is going to put up with her for long.

The daughter will be an hour away. She's going into a retirement community near them, not with them.  I don't imagine she's going to see much of her, the sister in law has recently retired and she and her husband plan to travel. Maybe more now than before :D
