On New Years Eve we're ditching this little town of Santa Fe for the glamorous big lights of Albuquerque. Gonna stay over night at the brand new Hotel Chaco near old town. Have reservations at a very nice Italian restaurant. Later we'll enjoy the crowd and booze atop the hotel at a rooftop lounge. Definitely a change of pace for us. Hopefully the normal 10 degree difference in temperature btwn SF and ABQ will provide a pleasant evening - perhaps in the high 50's.

One of my clients asked me where I bought my wedding dress because she loved it, that they couldn't find one that was pretty and affordable.

She is undergoing an immigration process herself, and they've spent so much money and she is so stressed about it, that I decided to donate

her the dress. I am shipping it to her tomorrow, for her winter wedding in a few days! It made her so happy, and I'm happy I can help her out. 

 

 

The first full day back home and I'm already a bit bored. I forget how calm everything is here and how the days feel endless!

But, my husband is arriving in a week, Xmas is coming and I have a plan for what I'm going to do for the next 3 or so months. 

I'm going to buy a bicycle tomorrow and start looking at exercise options, as well as volunteering activities. I have to fix the

space that is going to become my art workshop, and set up my studio. I'm looking forward to all of it.

I mean, it's not for lack of trying.

10 months, no approval yet. Plus 3-4 months at NVC, 3-4 months to get an interview, I need to do something with the extra time.

Good news re leak at rental casa, si man.

Small pipe was busted just under the garage, water everywhere but not a drop to drink man.

Plumber got to it from outside, resourceful he man.

Diagnosis = probably shifting ground, every casa's foundation in danger man.

Problem fixed, relief man.

Charge = only $Many00, in comparison with the $Many00 or $Many,000 that others might have charged, lucky we man.

Plumber = found by Mrs. T-B. years ago from working the Spanish-newspaper ads, resourceful/charming she man.

She picked a bummer only once, most everyone else long-term "good catches" man.

We can sometimes almost forgive her for not being a rubia, admit we man.

Mini-B. is in first grade at skool but reading at probably a Many'rd-grade level, ahead he man.

We want to buy him a set or series of books, buy we for wee man.

These would be for him to read to himself and for us & Mrs. T-B. to read to him, flexibility man.

 

He has greatly enjoyed the "Bad Kitty" books but has read all of them, no longer an option man.

 

What recommendations do you have, huh man?

This should be your first item of business after the water gets turned on, goes without saying man.

Boy books are usually different - my daughter reads a lot about fairies and cute stuff.  She is probably at grade level, so 3rd to 4th?  This year's book sets have been about Minecraft, Nancy Drew (Hardy Boys would be the equivalent), Harry Potter, and Little House on the Prairie.  

 

She hates reading* and the 20 minutes of reading she is assigned a night are always a chore.

 

*If we hadn't had a DNA test done, I'd wonder if they switched her in the hospital.  For real.  Books were my life at her age.  

 

She's a lot like the Dane that way despite not being biologically related.  I'm not sure I've ever seen him really read a book for pleasure...

 

Now I'm wondering how we ended up getting married.
