Moving. We close on Tuesday.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

My mother is coming out again.  They moved the closing to before Christmas, but honestly, no one knows if it will happen then or not.  The mortgage broker is super frustrated because the seller's agent's voicemail is always full (it has been for months) and my mom's agent doesn't often answer the phone either.  Minnneslooooowta for ya.

So, if she closes, I suspect we'll be doing a lot of picking out new flooring, paint, and getting workers all lined up to renovate.  Honestly, I'm not sure I'm up for it.

I'm sorry things are going so slow  ( I have to say I love the Minneslowta name, I grew up in a small town and everything is so painfully slow)

I can also understand you not being up to it, but it sounds slightly exciting at the same time, maybe because I've never owned a house. But I bet it's exhausting at the same time.

A lot of people just stop working or slow down in December. I don't know what it is, but I hope things will speed up in January! for all of us

It was somewhat exciting when it was my house, but we had to be more budget conscious than she is.  Like, I would have loved to replace all the hardwood in our house with oak like she is because the pine scratches and indents so easily.  But, at probably 15k for our house (we would have also needed new floor joists and subfloor), it was way out of budget.  I think the exhausting thing is that she can be very indecisive and can't picture anything.  So, like a tile choice that would take me a minute in the store takes her days of talking about it before she'll settle on her initial choice...

My mother doesn't do well with slow.  She's calmed down some since moving away from New York and is a little less rough around the edges, but she can come across still as very out of place around here.  Her Queens accent has faded in recent years too, thankfully, but she expects people to cater to her and now.

3/2/18  E-filed N-400 under 5 year rule

3/26/18 Biometrics

7/2019-12/2019 (Yes, 16- 21 months) Estimated time to interview MSP office.

ah, I see.  No wonder you're definitely not looking forward to it! It's interesting that she takes a lot of time making decisions while expecting others to cater to her ASAP,  It seems like contradicting traits. Also 15k is insane!  hardwood floors are dreamy but at that price tag, I can see how it's just not a possibility.

New York is such a high energy city, that must have been quite the change. My mom has lived in Cozumel (the island where I grew up) for 30 years so she is used to it, but somehow continues to be very impatient and expects things to be fast and very efficient. I moved to Monterrey and then Mexico City, so every time I come back I feel that time stands still.

Less than two weeks is pretty good, I guess. Maybe once the dust settles. It's not my favorite time of the year to move, and we are doing it all with such a rush. We will probably be more relieved than anything else.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.
