State of rural hospitals in America it seems like.   They had just built that hospital that year and the nurses were pretty upset with the layout... our room didn't even really have room for the bed and the newborn bassinet.  They didn't build a nursery with the new hospital despite having L&D rooms.  Maybe they were expecting to lose their ability to do births at some point in the near future?  Most rural hospitals in MN aren't allowed to do any sort of births anymore.  A lot of women are going 1-2+ hours away up in these parts.

It's not that they're not allowed...

Did you know that there are so many law suits and litigation going on, that a lot, I'd say half, of all hospitals in the US are weaning away from having a maternity ward?

Even the big names in NYC, like Beth Israel Mt Sinai...

The major corporations are going to be the only ones left. Like North shore, and Langone...

They're so big, that they don't carry insurance. They self-insure.

Sorta like UPS. Did you know that their trucks have no insurance?

Thank you guys for the support, you're the bee's knees.

I'm trying to stay busy and positive. I know Mexico takes longer than other countries, even just getting an approval.

Still, we're a week away from hitting 10 months since we started the process and it feels so strange, like a bad dream.

If we were approved in August as first expected, I think I would already be waiting for an interview.

When we started this we thought it was going to take a year, now it looks more like a year and a half, at least.

But nothing we can do about it, we can't change the past, make other choices or make things go faster.

the only thing we can do is enjoy our month together in December, plan ahead  (as much as possible anyway)

and to stay busy so we won't go crazy.

I did know that some companies did self insure, but I didn't realize that the hospitals did it for liability insurance.  It would explain how that rural hospital was able to afford it, it was part of one of those corporate chains.

My new bank is so secure, that not even I can use my credit card :jest:

now they're forcing me to get my card replaced,  so I have to renew all my monthly bill's info. fun.

But after I got money stolen a few months back, I'm not taking any chances.

:ranting: Amazon needs to stop shipping large boxes via USPS.  They are always invariably lost/delayed.  What is the point of Prime for this?  It is one of the reasons I am cancelling.  They absolutely refuse to uphold any sort of 2 day delivery in this part of the country.

I ordered my refill of 96 rolls of Boardwalk toilet paper in plenty of time and where is it now?  Lost.  Just like the baby gate a couple of months ago.  The post office just isn't set up for boxes that big.

Now, I'm going to buy linty regular toilet paper that makes me cough and sneeze.  :ranting:
