Hi,

I'm a Canadian citizen, I would like to go the US (Orlando), where I have some family. I would like to know if it is easy to apply to a TN1 Visa as a Canadian, and if in the long run I can change my status to a permanent resident, or it is better to find a job that sponsorship H1B. How difficult is it to find a job for a TN/H1B visa.

Thanks!!

TN's seem pretty easy f you qualify, if you want to be a LPR then you also need an Employer who will sponsor you assuming none of your family can.

So in any case, I need an Employee in the long run to be a permanent resident.

Employer, yes.  Some people stay for 10+years on TN visas though.

Thanks for your answer. Do you think that my career is able to get the TN visa? What job board to find employers that offer TN visa? Or ant job offer will do the trick?

Thanks

Software Developer. I'm a Software Engineer

There's a very specific list of acceptable categories and necessary qualifications for TN visa. There are two categories that could be appropriate - Computer Systems Analyst (requires a bachelor's/licentiate degree, or post-secondary diploma/certificate plus 3 years experience) and Engineer (which requires a bachelor's/licentiate degree). You mentioned having a diploma - if that's actually a degree, you may be qualified for both - if it's just a diploma, you only qualify as a systems analyst (assuming you have the experience already). Unfortunately, though, systems analyst does not include programming - you'd have to focus on actual systems analysis. The "engineer" does allow for software engineering. You also need a little more than just a job offer from a prospective employer - you need a specific letter of support from the employer that outlines the duties involved and how that relates to the category you come under. Google for more details on the specifics.

My major is Software engineering and a Masters degree in System administration and networking, beside that I have 9 years of experience on the market. Thank you! I will dig into it

Hi all,

I'm a Software developer with Master degree  in computer science/ I'm in the middle of an interview process for a company, and maybe I will get the job, I'm a Canadian citizen but I'm from Europe, so I will apply in case I get the offer for a TN Visa. My question is, I can get any Issues just because my Major and Master degree are from abroad and not canadian degrees?

Thank you!!!
