Hi VJers,

I've read a few embassy reviews in which people have mentioned they were asked if they have ever been in the military.

In the UK we have Army run training units whilst at university were you can go and learn about being an officer with the hope that you'll go on to become an officer in the Army.

Officially members of the unit are class B reservists meaning that they can leave at any time and are non-deployable.

Is this likely to cause any sort of issues?

Thank you!

I can't see this being an issue, I was in the RN for 11 years and don't see it as a stumbling block to my application.

I know that people that were in the military have to produce their discharge certificate at interview, and as yours was a university training unit, you will never have had one and therefore should not cause you a problem. I would actually question if it was something you would need to even declare?
