I am not sure if this is the rite forum for these topics but i am sure i will get directed to the correct place if not. Ok i have a couple of questions.

1. We are financially in a difficult spot rite now financially and are considering maybe filing for bankruptcy! Does anybody know if this would cause any problems regarding the Visa Process when i come to change from a Conditional Permanent Resident to a Permanent Resident? Any comments would be appreciated as long as they are constructive.

2. I have been driving now for about 4 Month now and still have not received my Drivers License, i received another Tempory licence last week and DMV said they are still waiting to hear from the IRS regarding my legal status. Has this happened to any one else? And does anyone have any advice on what to do.

Thanks,

Liam

1. Personally, I would avoid bankruptcy at all costs. Consider negotiating with creditors for reduced payments. A bankruptcy will linger for 10 years. However, some creditors will extend new credit, because you cannot file again for many years. With respect to immigration, as long as the income level of the sponsor meets the minimum, you are in compliance.

2. Immigration status information is required from USCIS (formerly INS), to issue the permanent, multi-year driver's license. Worry not.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Why are they checking your legal status with IRS? You already have a green card, that is usually sufficient to prove that you have legal immigration status in the US.

Good luck and I hope that things will turn for the better for both of you.
