Form I-485 rejected 😔 (merged)

•My Form I-485 was rejected.. I got the mail from USCIS Chicago this day, and i was disappointed because they was rejected my application and i got the NOA Rejection Notice due to:

This is in reference to the I-485, Application to register permanent residence or adjust status, you submitted. Your I-485, fees and any supporting documentation is being returned to you for the following reason(s):

The application/petition was filed on an outdated version of this form. Please resumbit your application/petition on the current version of this form with the appropriate fees to the address listed on the bottom of this page.

 

• And including my Form I-765 and Form I-131 it says that The principal application could not be accepted for the reason specified on the related notice of action (form i-797). Therefore the processing of all riding applications cannot continue.

 

•All returned documents at the bottom of the sheets, there is a lot of numbers and there is a line on it..

 

What i’m gonna do now?. I cried and i’m so worried about this ☹️

•Do i need to restart again?. Fill up a new forms and photocopy all the supporting documents for the forms and make a new package?.

•Or should i use the other document that USCIS returned to me and only the outdated form I-485 that i’m going to change?.

I’m confused, please help me guys.. please 😩

The other applications EAD and AP both require an active I495 in order to be processed

Resubmit the application using the correct form. Send all the associated documents as previously submitted. Resend the AP and EAD applications and associated documents with the new package. You can send the documents you previously sent 

This is  easily done correctly now that you know what the problem is.  It is a standard response to the use of an outdated form

Do i need to use the documents that USCIS returned to me?. Or should i use new copies but same as what i did in my previous package?. 🙏🏼

I cannot tell you specifically if you need new documents... but, as the stamps etc on  the documents you sent were put on there by the USCIS, I cant see why you would not be ok to resend them.

By the way, i am thinking about the payment, my check has a stamp and it says “U.S Department of Homeland Security Citizenship and Immigration Services”.. Do i need to send a new check?. I have a lot of questions in my head now.. i’m sorry ☹️

How about on the supporting documents?. I will not photocopy them again?. I just use the returned documents from USCIS?. And all the supporting documents was disorganized ☹️

As said  you only need to correct what's asked for - fill out the new i485, double check that other forms are current also, add a note that you are refiling with the current form and re-submit. You can also make a copy of the i797 notice and add with the note. There is no need to change anything else and def no need to cry! You will be fine,  this happens all the time, don't worry.

Disorganized to you. Re-organized to them. There is no need to change anything else other than the i485.

The rejection notice stated also that

”Please be sure to complete the application fully, Submit the appropriates fees, and include all required supporting documentation”...

Yes but that is already in the package. You need only correct the part that got it rejected. The reorganizing and stamping is part of the lockbox processing before it is sent on to the NBC in Missouri. They will go through everything regardless and everything else was there. You should of course double check that that is the case so nothing has been lost a long the way.

do double-check the amount though, if you used an outdated form, perhaps you used an outdated payment amount also? Always check for the most recent forms and fees on the uscis.gov website.

Hi, I also had my first package returned to me for the same reason but I was smart enough to have an exact copy of the application with all the supporting documents so all that I had to do was to replace the form and make a copy of the package that I already had...I would suggest to send a new package as for my experience it worked well and actually gave me the chance to look at everything again, I ended up finding some misspelling and other errors...I had no RFE or delays on my process so far and just received my EAD...just do not forget the green letter that you have to place on top of your application.
