he knows she wants to get engaged and she has been not too subtly hinting/saying it.

That ring was pointless it's not even a promise ring according to him. She looked so sad afterward, aw

But I guess he was just trying to say that he wants to but he isn't there yet. Anyway, she was certainly expecting something else when he dropped on one knee!

Well I wish they would hurry up and talk more about Elizabeth and Andrei, thats the couple I want to see.  I read that Elizabeth played a small part in the series Homeland.  Cant remember what they said Andrei did.  I think Andrei's is attractive and they make a good couple but not sure if their compatible since they haven't shown much of them yet.

Evelyn bothers me because she is so naive and spoiled. Hope “god” will also provide her a brain (along with money and a roof evidently) otherwise that marriage won’t last long!!!

 

Thinking on it, she reminds me of a cousin of mine. Her parents tell her she’s “the best!!!!” at everything, and obviously she’s not. It’s okay to not be “the best!!!!” at everything. Know your weaknesses, work on them, realize you’re imperfections, be okay with that, and learn to compromise!!!

Yeah, well God does provide... but its also said that "God helps those who helps themselves".  Can't sit around like she intends to do and wait for it to fall in your lap.  

 

I agree, realise your imperfections and be ok with that. Everyone has them,  and that is what makes us who we are.

Yes!!!! very mean, Jesse comes across to me as a controlling type, and after Darcy had her drinking night, Jesse was very unhappy. But he got her to promise never to drink again. So i think he felt he needed to give her some token of obedience ha ha

I noticed that too! She wasn't that drunk and the fact that he made her promise that she wouldn't drink again made me feel so uncomfortable. Sure, alcoholism is a serious and awful thing and I understand caring for people and helping them get better, but a few drinks here and there are not a big deal (if you're not an alcoholic, I don't think she is) Does anyone else get the sex robot, male dominatrix vibe from him as well? I think that she is definitely smitten by his looks (I don't see it, but I guess the body and being tall/young) and its clouding her judgment. haha at the token of obedience!

And honestly, sorry if some people can't handle this, but he is yet to enter his prime years and clearly takes pride in the way he looks,  they don't seem to have much in common. She will try to keep up b because ''she feels young inside'' but we all age, is inevitable.  Even Jesse's friend so bluntly pointed it out in this conversation.

Also, is anyone else worried about Andre's attitude? Elizabeth is already accepting the fact that she ''has'' to be submissive 

and she is enjoying possibly her last ''girls night out'' the way he asks her at what time she'll be back. He seems controlling too, 

but he also seems aggressive and it rubs me the wrong way.  I know a lot of this is accounted by cultural differences,

so i'm not saying one is necessarily right over the other, but I'm definitely very independent and open minded so it would so not work out!

I have done said on this earlier that Elizabeth seems she is just waiting to be a DV victim because that's what he seems like to me. I don't think it's cultural differences at all I just think that he is a controlling and reminds me of a abuser.

I'm not willing to judge Andrei yet.  All we have is Elizabeth's point of view on him and I don't know if it's completely truthful.  I mean if we were going off cultural stereotypes I could describe my husband as a soccer loving, Catholic, jealous man who likes hair gel.  And he is none of those things.  While culture does affect you, it doesn't necessarily define you.

I've heard more come out of Elizabeth's mouth than Andrei's. They have not filmed much of him, he's pretty much been silent in the background while Elizabeth has done a pretty good job of making him out to be a old fashioned chauvinist who wants his woman at home.  She's pretty much ruined him before him story even starts.  So I'm interested to see how this turns out.

Maybe she is choosing to act a certain way or is falling for said stereotypes. The ''at what time are you coming back'' could be just curiosity, but TLC is choosing to portray him a certain way. That's why I always think that the character's arch depends on how they're being portrayed. In this case, for drama, they up the ''he is a macho/alfa male/ dominant man'' he does have a criminal record, don't know why. A lot of them have complained that the show is giving them a bad rep. I'm also curious to see where it goes, maybe he will end up being a sweetheart? who knows!

Is anyone else not too in love with the new couples just yet? I might be attached to previous couples/seasons but

for some reason, I'm not feeling it. They uped the drama and the ridiculousness and I wish one of those couples was a bit more ''normal'' to balance the rest. Some of the previous couples are still going on strong, I just don't see that happening for most on season 5. 

I mean normal as a bit boring, met months or years before getting engaged, and/or similar ages, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds. But I'm sure that wouldn't be too fun to watch
