Hi all,

I will have my medical examination in Melbourne, Australia in November 2017.

Firstly, I am unable to find my vaccination history. Am I able to have all the vaccinations on the day of the medical? Will this hold up the process in any way, shape or form? Obviously want to deal with all medical related issues on the day of the medical.

Secondly, I have had major surgery two months ago relating to my ulcerative colitis disease which I will make a full recovery from and wont require any additional treatments or medications going forward. Will this be an issue in passing my k1 medical?

Thanks

The Dr will determine what is needed... they do the vaccinations there, but if you need too many for one day, or you need multiple vaccinations of the same kind,  you will can arrange for your GP to do them and have the GP send confirmation to the Immigration medico. They will complete the form after that...

We used Sonic Medical in William St. There are some diseases that you can be tested for to show immunity.. may be worth considering that if you have no records at all.

What visa are you appliying for? Please update your timeline as it helps to inform those reading your post.. Spousal visa IR/CR1 and fiance visa K1 have slightly different vaccinations I think..

You may get some assistance/ information by calling the Medical Centre where you will be attending.

second question.. take a summary letter from your GP or specialist, with all the information on your condition treatment/and outcome to the Medical. They are not interested in these types of conditions, so it shouldnt be any issue.. but have the information ready.

Great insights, thanks Dee.

I will contact the medical centre for further clarification. I am applying for the k1 visa also.

Cheers,
Peter

My husband had no documentation and needed everything and was given all of them at his exam.  It was only three injections as many are combos and he aged out of some.

That said it was expensive.  If you have low cost options available, definitely explore that, but make sure they can give you acceptable documentation.  Usually your country's national vaccine card.

I would also suggest you to go to the medical clinic before taking the medical. You can have the vacination shots done at a cheper price than during the medical. Sometimes they can also just take the antibodies to examine if you've already been vaccinated before. But better consult with a doctor. The thing is, if you leave it all for the medical, they might not be able to give you all the shots in one day as some of them mught be not mixed or there's supposed to be a waiting period (Like i took a flue shot a week ago and the doctor told me not to get any other vaccination done within a month) which means you'll have to do the other ones missing in the states which might be even more expensive as sometimes insurances don't cover vaccines. So, if I were you I'd definitely go and talk to the local vaccine therapist, show them the list of vaccines nedded and consult on what's you best option. Cuz you might start doing them now and finish some during the medical. So by the time you enter the States, all the viccines will be done.

Regarding the surgery, I haven't heard of the stories when it was an issue. So, don't worry.
P.S. I'm not a doctor and haven't taken a medical myself but been reading a lot on the Russian forums about it. Good luck!

Thanks Marta, great advice! I will do just that and contact the clinic.

Really appreciate your response! :)
