Ok, but in the mean time the people who hired you are waiting? I get it that it can be expedited but how fast does that happen? Sounds like they will be flexible since they want him hired, hehe. Just saying it seems like a bad idea.

Well, I explained to them that if offered the job since they owned up I qualified for it but had to interview others to determine who is more eligible, I will need more time to get my EAD as I am currently waiting for approval from USCIS. So offering me the job means they have accepted. When they called on the phone to ask if I am still willing to work for them, I reminded the HR that I will not be able to start immediately, which he accepted. So sending me the job offer finally, means they agree to my terms. I have to do everything within my power to report back as soon as possible in order not to loose it, being a befitting job with lots of benefits.

You are in good shape then, just have to wait now. Maybe read up on their policies and all the new hire info you get.

well, a lot of people applied and used a job offer to expedite. EAD is currently taking much longer if not expedited. I decided to try to apply, knowing fully well I will get a job once given the opportunity for an interview. 3 hours ago, I received a voice message inviting me for another job interview. I have already accepted an offer today so hopefully, i will be using it to expedite. I also have a first class mail on the way, when i tracked the origin, USPS is about 10 mins drive from USCIS field office in Texas. I wonder if its by chance letter for either interview or EAD card/approval. No updates on my case. Wondering how possible I could receive response from Texas instead of NBC or my field office in Florida.

I'm sorry I don't know about getting a letter from Texas... you'll just have to wait and see what it is. :)

So anxious to know what it is, Suss and yes like you said, I have to wait till monday or tuesday because its still on the way. It was held for about 7 days before being dispatched and since then, its been on the way. Going to arrive on 13th day, maybe, thereby making it a total of 19 or more days before getting here.

How is that a bad idea? If they don't want to wait no one's making them. It's totally in the hands of the employer. If they believe the person to be worth the wait they do, and it's a win/win - if they don't then that's fine too.

It depends on whether or not the applicant is honest with the company recruiting and actually let them know that they’re NOT authorized to work in the US yet but with a job offer, they might get their EAD expedited. Unfortunately, most job applicants hide that information until the very last minute, when a company has already put time, money and effort into interviewing, paperwork, background checks etc.

As a recruiter, I can tell you that it’s extremely frustrating when you’ve placed an ad that specifies must be authorized to work in the US and put all this work into it, recruiting the person you think is best for the position, only to find out that they lied and they’re not authorized to work in the US.

OP, it’s good that you were honest. That way, companies will have all the information and can decide whether or not to pursue your application and you’re not burning any bridges on the job market.

First of all - ofc you should be honest when you are approached by the company, no doubt about that.

Secondly though, at the point you are talking about there should have been more than one qualified person at the point of which you are referring to - if it's that horrible than don't hire that person, they are obviously not honest so why would you? I find it hard to believe that anyone would be dishonest up until after  they have received an offer. If so, I 100% disagree with that. I've always said be honest about it. Many companies recruit for ppl with really high competencies and hard to find specialities and they are more than happy to wait for that one person that fits the bill - those recruiters probably don't feel the way you do about it, seeing how you recruit for the hotel industry and not looking for a computer programming expert or an oncology scientists etc. Not all recruting have the same pretenses.
