Job offer from Ireland

Guys, I have an emerging question.

 

I’m now waiting for my permanent Green Card (10 years). Once I get that I will most likely be eligible to apply for US Citizenship.

 

I sent my package to remove conditions September 1st. If the wait time right now is around a year, I will get my Green Card by next year.

 

My question is, that I got a job offer from Ireland and it will be for 14-16 months. What would happen if I take that offer and leave the US to go to Cork, Ireland around February?

 

I have no idea how the process will look like.

First instinct would be to file for a travel document (Must Do) and also file an application to preserve residence for naturalization purpose.  Both of these are on the USCIS website. Might investigate what they define as "qualifying employment" because that's a bit murky.  Good luck.

If you are only just removing conditions, you are at least a year away from being eligible for citizenship (depending on whether you are married to a USC or not). If you move away in February this will delay your citizenship eligibility further as there is a presence requirement that you must meet before you can file.

Thank you guys for the quick response. I was wondering if I’m risking my green card process. 

 

I mean If I leave on February or March with my Turkish passport will I still receive the 10 year green card? I’m not worried about citizenship. 

 

Yes my husband is a US citizen and we are happily married. He will not move with me because this job in Ireland will make it happen for both of us to have a better life here in New York. 

 

I’m just super afraid that, I will be abonden the whole process and I need to start from scratch.

Can I just not enter back to the US with my 10 years tourist visa that I have on my Turkish passport?

A travel document and maintaining strong US ties will allow you to stay out for up to two years.

Not advised.  Enter on your green card/travel document and you will be OK.

You don’t lose your LPR status just because the 2yr GC has expired since you are in the ROC quene.  Since you are an LPR, you will need a re-entry permit if you plan to be outside the US for more than 12months.  A visitor visa if you have one in your passport is no longer valid once you received your GC.  I don’t think this will impact the ROC, but you may have to come back for an interview if requested, so hopefully you would have arrangements for someone to get your notices while you are away.  I am not sure relative to naturalization, but it may impact the clock as to when you can apply if you are so inclined.

I'm still trying to get a better understanding of all the procedures and how it works.

 

- Now I know that the B1/B2 tourist visa I have is not an option.

 

- Also good to know that I can arrange everything with a travel document. What kind of travel document are you guys referring to? I would like to do more research about that.

 

- I'm not in a hurry with the Neutralization process. If I can get the 10-year green card I will be fine and I can do the citizenship in the future.

I will have a phone conversation with one of Immigration Team member of the company that offered me the oosition in Ireland. 

 

A travel document was mentioned above, what document is that? I would like to do a research before that phone call. 

 

Or what suggestions do you guys have for me?

My fear here is that what if they will schedule you for an interview with your USC, you need to come back to the US for an interview so yes I-131 (travel document) is an option for you to enter the US.

That is also my fear. If that should happen I will get the first flight to US.

Quik update...

 

I have talked to an Immigration attorney and was adviced to submit I-131 and N-470 not to lose my neutralization status.

 

That's the way to go.
