In a perfect world Bith control would be in the water, and you would need a licence and proof of income to sire a child

I'm not 100% against all of those ideas....

So just to be clear:

You are fine with a company run by Jehova's Witnesses to keep their employees from getting blood transfusions covered by insurance, because blood transfusions are against their religious beliefs.

Am I correct?

So a person who lives with Sickle Cell disease would have to start paying out of pocket for their blood transfusions because their boss happens to belong to a religion that refuses them?

Can’t a person working for a JW get their own insurance?

Access to birth control can prevent unwanted pregnancies. Pregnancies are costly to insurers. As stated before, you'd think they would realize that investing in birth control would likely save them money by reducing the number of pregnancies they have to cover.

I guess if you are a customer you will just go with the insurance company that provides the service that suits you best.

Am I misunderstanding, can your employer dictate what goes on your insurance policy or is that down to the insurance company they choose?

One is a sickness, of which a person cannot opt out.  The other, birth control, is a choice someone makes voluntarily.  That being said, I agree with this type of religious exemption for abortion procedures, but I just don't see birth control as a religious issue.  If these companies think more about it, they might realize there are other possible health benefits for women taking birth control and even more importantly, there might be fewer abortions performed.

I'm all for anything that helps limit the number of abortions being performed.

I'm wondering if removing the Obamacare mandate means that women who take birth control for truly medical reasons (for sicknesses which they can't opt out) will still have it covered?

OCP's are the primary treatment for a variety of conditions. They aren't just used to prevent pregnancy.

It might still be covered by big companies who can afford to have it included in their insurance plans, but smaller companies might not want to take on the additional cost.

I have no idea how much birth control costs, is it expensive?  Are there other options that enable low income women to obtain it at reduced prices, like Planned Parenthood for instance?

Planned Parent have had to close up many of their operations in Colorado due to OCare.

It can cost around 30-50 dollars, potentially more depending on which one you are on. You may need to be on a more expensive one for other medical reasons (if you suffer from migraine with aura you can't be on the typical standard OCP).

Planned Parenthood can help provide it, though they aren't everywhere and as time goes by there may be less. I'm also not sure what they actually charge if they can't bill insurance. I don't think they do it 100% free, but I'm not sure.

If the insurance plans actually adjusted the cost of the plans appropriately, companies would save money by providing OCP. There have been numerous studies (I cited a few already) that showed that offering OCP's SAVES money because it reduces pregnancies, which are far more costly.

So to combat this insurance companies just need to start charging companies MORE money for plans that DON"T have OCP's, to reflect the actual economics.

the employer chooses the insurance company/policies. for example, my employer decided to change insurance companies for a cheaper policy (for himself) last year. my rate doubled and coverage changed. i have no say in the matter, either i sign up or don't.

same here. Any visit to a hospital if even outpatient is now 1000 bucks.  My work buddy who pays about 10k a year or more in family coverage, just had a son break his hand. Over 7K in out of pocket expenses. Yeah Obamacare.

As a side note , my wife took a part time job with the Kroger company.  Good health insurance for 20 bucks a month dental, eye and life included.  It saved me over 450 a month taking  her off my policy. 20 bucks a month for part time is strong.  darn that filthy Union
