Good day everyone

i was reading the post in VJ about getting US passports for minors but none of the post where updated so forgive me if i started another topic.I am a newly naturalized US citizen and my kids GC holders presently living with me here in the US, my kid's biological dad is no where to be found after we broke up unfortunately his name is on the BC. I got my kids before the eldest turned 8 and brought them here in the US thru I-130 filed by my USC husband. Overview Under Philippine law, minors under age 7 are sole custody of mother if born out of wedlock.

I was told i need to submit DS5525 Statement of Exigent/Special Family Circumstances - For Issuance of a Passport to a Minor Under Age 16 along with the other requirements.

I would like to hear your experiences about getting a RFI from the dept of state maybe asking more information and how you handle the request. We are planning to go to the Philippines to visit and also to reconnect or find their dad and get his responsibility in place if not oh well. The passport agency is very far away from us so i am left with usps and court houses to take in my requirements.

Also how would you handle uninformed passport acceptance facility employee telling you that you cannot apply for your child since they do not have a US certificate of naturalization...because i tried explaining to 3usps offices and none are aware about derivative citizenship( yes i printed out USCIS CCa)

Thank you and hope to hear from all of you.

Hi! I will have the same case I passed my interview and just waiting for my oath letter. And I am looking around here how to get a passport for my son who will derive citizenship from me. Dad’s name on the birth certificate but no communication for 6 years now. How’s your passport application going? Let me know how did you do it? Really appreciate it. Thank you so much.
