So either I am a total moron or I just spoke to one after I finally navigated the intentionally ridiculous phone menu of USCIS.

I filed my I129F with a receipt date of May 5th 2017.  The USCIS website says that the California Service Center is processing cases as of July 31st dated March 1st.  If I read that table correctly that means that on September 31st (2 months later) they should be processing from May 1st (meaning any day now for us).  However, the person who I really think didn't know or care about any of this says that because in the bottom right of the webpage where it says they updated the information of service dates on September 22nd that they are STILL only processing cases from March 1st?!  I think she doesn't know what she's talking about because it clearly states July 31st they were working cases from March 1st...so...who is correct here?  Should I be expecting a decision soon or sit back and plan on waiting at least 2 more months?

Thanks!!

The USCIS Customer Service will basically only tell you information that is already available on their site, and their processing timeline is updated very infrequently. You can check out http://www.visajourney.com/content/times/  for a more accurate estimate. It looks like filers from May 10th and before are getting their NOA2's from USCIS, so you could probably expect an NOA2 (or RFE) any day now.

The USCIS processing times page is definitely a little confusing. They actually updated the processing times on September 22, 2017 (listed at the bottom of that page). I'm not sure why the July date is still there. The processing times given my USCIS are more conservative, and we can tell from this forum that May filers are now starting to get NOA2 notices. NOA2 is currently taking around an average time of 4-6 months, with 4-5 months being the most common timeline. When you call USCIS, they will tell you that they are processing cases as of March 1, so that they stay within their more conservative 6 month timeline.

You should be getting your NOA2 any day now, hope it arrives soon!
