Hello my fellow VJ Members!

I’m about to file a report of marriage (after 3 years) - i know it’s a looonggg time because we are not aware of ROM. Anyways, I have a couple of questions on the form:

1.) Residence - What address should we put, our previous address or current? Because 3 months after we got married we moved to a different state.

2.)  Witnes - We only have 2 witnesses written ln our marriage certificate. Since the form is asking 2 on each (husband and wife), should I leave mine blank?

3. ) After we file this, are we getting something back like Copy of Report of Marriage or receipt? And how long does it take? Because I am renewing my passport on December.

thank you so much! Answers will be very much appreciated. 🙏😊

God has perfect timing; never early, never late. It takes a little patience and it takes a lot of faith but it's worth the wait. ❤️

I was on a K-1 Visa on 2014.

Current address.    (if you moved, did you move to another area represented by a different consulate?  ROM must be done through the consulate representing the state where you were married)

Doesn't matter how you list the witnesses, list one under each or both under one ;)

Took about 5 weeks for us to get the receipt back from ROM that it was recorded.

1. The residency is for your current address.

2. I just put one witness under me and one witness under my asawa. They aren't going to call them up at all so don't worry.

3.  It will take about 6-8 weeks to complete everything and send them back to you. You will get the same paperwork from above you sent in but at the end of the paper there it will be stamped and notarized. It took alittle longer for us because they wanted a better copy of  my asawa's dead sea scroll looking birth certificate as well. So we provided that and everything was fine.

Just remember you have to send a self addressed postage already paid envelope with the package so that they can send it back to you.

Thank you Hank and cyberfx for your replies. Really appreciate it. So what if I do this: I will go next month to LA to do my Report of Marriage and the next day will renew my passport. Is that fine? Because I check the form of the releasing time for the ROM and it says same day so it means i can renew my passport the next day? And also,  if I filed a ROM  that day and renew my passport the next day should I put married or single on the civil status since I filed my ROM the day before? Please see picture below.

Thank you guys!!!

You are married... ;)     status is MARRIED.

You may be able to apply for the passport renewal the same day ... my wife did both in one day at an outreach event.
