Hello there guys,

Just registered on Visa Journey and am posting here to see if anyone can help.

I have applied for the K1 visa. Last week I sent my checklist to the US embassy in London. I have the medical exam done. My fiance is sending me the I-134 forms to show proof of financial support. I'm pretty much ready to go.

I phoned the embassy and they said that it will take up to a month just to let me know of the interview date.

Is anyone on the board currently undergoing a K1 visa application through the London embassy, if so - how long is it surrently taking between submitting your checklist and the actual interview date?

We are hoping to get married on the 24th June, so effectively, I'm hoping for a visa interview date before then - can anyone help? :help:

Well, I posted back packet 3 checklist and my forms on Monday. I received packet 4 with an interview date, (June 8th), on Saturday. This seems to be a speed record, (we've already called Guinness), but that is London right now.

That's fantastic, though! Hope they keep up with that sort of speed. Congrats on that, guys!

Wow! That is good and quick - if mine comes through that fast - I'll have no problems. When you say "Monday" , do you mean: Monday 9th April / Monday 16th April?

How long ago did you send back the 4 forms they requested in Packet 3?

Monday 16th - Saturday - 21st (5 days)

I sent the forms with the check-list. At the bottom of the check-list is the word "enclosures" after which I listed the four form numbers.

I sent these forms:

DS-230 – Part I

DS-156

DS-156K

DS-157

About a month ago. I sent the checklist of alomst a week and a half ago - still nothing back.

When did you do your medical exam?

I have made copies of everything the Embassy sent me - I cannot find the word "enclosures" anywhere on the page. Which page number was it on, do you know?

Tell me - have you collected everything you're taking for the interview yet?

And if so - are you taking your US fiance's ORIGINAL birth certificate or a copy? Can you let me know because I can't seem to get a straight answer for this question.

OK. Yes you sent the right forms. Yes you sent the checklist. I did the same but sent them all together. I'm sure this is why I got Packet 4 so quickly. The forms would go on hold until they receive your checklist, (IV 15), which is basically you telling them you have all that you need and are ready for interview.

My medical was on the 20th April, (Friday just gone).

Yes, I've collected everything now. I'm taking her original birth certificate and a copy. Only because they say at the petition part of our journey, "at any time we could ask to see originals", am I taking the original. They may not ask to see it, but I'm taking it in case they do.

On your checklist, (the first 4 pages of IV15), after the little section that you fill in on page 4, at the end of Step 4, is the word Enclosures. I copied mine before I sent it and I'll post it below with the bit we're talking about highlighted.

Hi there,

OK - thank you for this information. This does help.

I have been dithering over the birth certificate part - I was getting my fiance to email a colour copy of her birth cert - but for my sanity - I'm going to get her to send the original. I take it that Americans can request copies of a birth certificate, same as here in the UK?

I've double checked the IV15 form they sent me - it definitely has no word enclosures there - in fact, your form and mine are identical, apart from that one word. That's weird.

Is it worth phoning the embassy number tomorrow and quoting my case id - will they be able to tell me my interview date do you reckon?

Also, today, I've been compiling a complete list of all that I'm going to take with me to the interview, I've listed it below - take a look and tell me if it looks about right...

q Original I-129F package

q Further proof of ongoing relationship (more recent photos, ring receipts, booking for the wedding, etc).

q All material the embassy has sent to me

q My Original passport and 1 copies of every page

q US Fiance passport – copies of every page

q My original Birth-certificate and 1 copies of it

q US Fiance original birth certicate and 1 copies of it

q Police Certificate

q Two US Size colour photographs of me

q Fiance (Primary Sponsor) – I-134 form filled in and signed

q Fiance's Dad (Co-Sponsor) – I-134 form filled in and signed

q Evidence for each of the above

q Affidavit Of Support from above

q Medical Examination results - being sent from Knightsbridge.

q Another letter of Intent from US Fiance (signed)

Do you think I need to add anything to this? Do I need to take 2 colour passport photos of my fiance? Does this look much like what you're taking?

Also - tell me - what was your trip to the medical exam like? I was in an dout in about an hour - couldn't believe how quick the Doctor did the assessment! Felt like they extracted a pint of blood too for the blood test...

OK. Yes they can get copies if they lose them etc.

Yes, that is weird about that difference. Well, as you sent them separately they wouldn't be enclosed anyhow. Never mind. They all got sent.

I wouldn't bother to call the embassy. Better to email the embassy, (address on the embassy info link on this site).

The list looks good except:-

Don't bother with copies of your passport pages, (they actually state on the IV15 instructions that photocopies of your passport are not required, they will take it from you anyway to put the visa in to send to you.)

You don't need original or copies of the US fiance passport.

A copy of the police certificate as well as the original.

Both the I 134 forms need to be notorised, plus bring copies of each.

:)

This is all good to hear! I'm sending off my I-134 and support info to my fiance in England tomorrow, and she's working on packet three as we speak. Didn't realize that it's going to cost $400 for a fracking medical exam!

Here's my question: How long did it take for you to get a police certificate? We just read 40 days on the embassy packet and our eyeballs popped out. Is that true?

Good luck and let me know how it goes...I'm a step or two behind you.

Our police certificate only took 10 days to arrive, but I believe the norm is more like 40 days. If you've not applied for it yet, I'd get on that ASAP. You'll need it before you send back the checklist - and I believe they wait for that before finding you an interview date.

We are just waiting for the NVC to process and send out their bits to the embassy in London. I have also worried about the police certificate, not because I have a record, but because I have lived all over the place. Will a certificate from the Police National Computer suffice? I have made a concious decision to start filling in the downloadable forms now to cut down on the waiting time. NOA2 took long enough and we just want to get the whole thing finished so we can be together.

As long as you've only lived 'all over the place' in the UK I wouldn't worry about it.

TracyTN is right about the police certificate; my husband's took about as long as TracyTN's fellow's did but some people here have reported waiting over a month for them. Send off for it ASAFP!
