Good day everyone! I was planning to petition my mom and i was gonna start doing it by this month or next month. My mom and dad was not married, and my dad has been passed away more than 20 yrs ago. I have a step father and they were together for like 10 yrs already with my mom, so i found out that they are planning to get married december this year. My question is, does it affect the processing of her papers once she get married? Or should i tell my mom to wait first and let the visa approved for her first and come to america before she gets married? I am so confused right now. I think it shouldn't affect the petition if she gets married. The only thing is her husband won't be able to come with her at the time. When she moves to the states after the process, she can apply for her husband and it will take around 2 years to bring her future husband if she gets 

married, because she will be a resident, not a citizen. let someone correct me if  im wrong.

Thank you for answering,  cause if my mom gets married and i already sent all her paperworks and under review, later on if she gets married she needs to change her name to her married name,  do u think it will not be a problem?

How long she needs to wait for an interview? I guess the process for immediate relative of an USC will be fast.

When my cousin applied for her parents, there are two different packages. It means, everyone has its own application. 

So no worries about this, and send your application after fully reviewed. From there, your mom can be able to petition her husband herself.

she won't be able to apply for her moms future husband. He is not her parent first of all and the marriage will be created after the step daughter turned 18. Only her mom will be able to apply for her own husband when she becomes a resident.

Let her get married before you apply and she can keep her own surname. She doesn't have to change it. She can change it when in the states.

I wonder is it mandatory to change the last name to her husband????. In China or Vietnam, most people won't change their last name..

Yes since she was already married, we are from the philippines, thats my concern, cause if i submit all her paperworks to her single name and later she got married her name willgonna change to her married name

You mentioned your cousin case who applied and sent two petitions. It means your cousin was able to apply for both parents. Petitions are sent as separate packages for each relative. That's why there were two packages. In the present situation, the vj member obviously won't be able to apply for her step dad and will be able to send only one package.

Yes, and what is wrong with the OP who is only applying for only her mother? I am pointing out that, everyone must has its own application, so even they are married, it won't be affect her mother petition though.
