It may be different in Russia - you could check at the consulate review for Russia in their country's portal - but most countries DO NOT allow the petitioner to attend the interview. If you are in country she can take your passport in to show that you are there (and likely waiting outside). If s/he is concerned about getting nervous and forgetting a word and/or the language barrier, s/he could ask for a translator.

I know the US Embassy in Russia allows the petitioner to attend the interview.  Many have done it before.

I was just curious if they called the embassy or sent email to have my name added to the list.

Please only reply only if you have specific experience with the US embassy in Moscow.  Thanks

Quick question - who do I contact at the embassy to get on the list to attend the interview with my fiancee (beneficiary)?

Thanks

Just send email on consulMo@state.gov, they'll put you on the list for the guard.

When I came on my interview September this year, my petitioner was on a list of attendees. Though he wasn’t able to come and we didn’t request to add him in attendees list. So I guess if your fiancee made an appointment you have been added automatically.

Back in 2014, I just showed up with my then fiancé and showed my US passport and they let me in.  I am not sure if I was ever on any list, but there were no questions.  Just an FYI, don’t bring any electronic devices with you.

Good Luck!

Thanks for the info.  I have sent several emails to the embassy requesting they put my name on the list.  Hopefully I will get a response soon.

I don't think there will be any issue.

And yes, we will bring nothing but ID and the documents we need for the interview.

You should be fine.  When is your fiance’s Interview?  Back when Katya had her’s i was the only USC fiancé present, there were 4-5 other women being interviewed for K1s at the same time and everyone was approved.  When we entered the consulate, we went through the security, and then the first window and they routed us up to Window 5 (if my memory is correct), and this was where they were doing all the interviews for immigrant visas such as CR1s, or DVs.  Katya was one of the last individuals interviewed and even though I was not asked any questions myself, the IO did the interview near me, so I could hear everything, and Katya chose to do it in English.

Good Luck!

Our interview is at 0900 on 25 October, 2017.

My fiancee's English is good, but I think she will prefer to do the interview in Russian.  She is a little nervous, but she will do great.

I've sent an email to the Moscow consulate, so hopefully they confirm that I can enter the embassy.  I am not too worried about it.

Thanks for the information and help,

Tim

Well good luck.  If your fiance’s English is good enough, and you are present, I would suggest having her do it in English.  Katya was undecided as well, but I think she was more confident since I was there, and I can’t say that there is an advantage, but since she is being interviewed essentially for an immigrant visa, I would think it might look good to do it in English.  Regardless, it is her decision.

The embassy sent me an email confirming what you said.  All petitioners for K1 visas are allowed to go to interview, you don't need to ask permission.

Thanks for the help...

Thanks - I don't think it matters.  I told my fiancee to do interview in language she is most comfortable with.

The answer is Yes. This link is a letter (pdf) from the US Embassy in Moscow 'We encourage petitioners who have filed for spouses or fiancé(e)s to appear at the interview".

Best to you both.
