Cannot check i797 status and how long does it take

I filed for my dad and the petition was received on august 15 2017.  I have got my receipt in my mail. It's October 5th 2017 and my status number is still error and case number cannot be found" whenever I try to check my status. The processing office is Nebraska. How long will it take? I am scared to death. I need help.

why are you scared? sometimes it takes a while for them to update the system, the approval of the i130 can take from 5 to 9 months

 

you can check on the Nebraska service center to see how long

 

the whole process can take a year

Thank u aleful.i am scared because I can't seem to check my status and thinking something is wrong with it.  How do I check the Nebraska service center? Can u help me please?

go to www.uscis.gov, immigration's official page

 

in the middle of the main page, it says check your status, it will go to a page, on the bottom there are several links

 

click on the processing time, keep going until it lets you find the service center

 

I did that and it is very slow, the date they are working on for the i130 is Dec 9, 2016, 10 months,

it all depends on how fast or slow the center is
